Is there any plans to start a tech section? If not would it be possible to start one?

I am trying to put together a COMPLETE writeup of my Waggie axle swap. I have grown kind of fond of this site so I would like to post it here instead somewhere else.

I think this site has grown enough for something like that...Just make it a required that you title the post with the specific truck make plus what the write-up is about. When I start my other 1/2 door, I'd be willing to do a write-up on it...

Sounds like a good idea to me. graemlins/thumbsup.gif Maybe you could also make this a product review section??? It wouldn't be hard to make a short write-up and could be very helpful. It also may keep the number of repeat posts down being that they would have something to look at. Just a thought. smile.gif ~Steve

Hey I agree with everyone else. A tech section sounds like a good idea, It helps out those of us who lack the creative engineering skills, by giving us some idea of how to get the job done right the first time.

Keep the comments coming, I'm listening smile.gif FWIW this was brought up a loooong time ago and at the time it didn't make much sense since we were so small and there are so many good tech sites/articles out there already. We can do all of this already in the Gen4x4 forum, so we need to decide if we really need a separate section for this. Something to consider is whether you'd want it in a forum format or as separate pages like the featured rig section (and future trails section  ). Maybe both, context as a separate page and a link at the bottom to a discussion thread for questions? Perhaps a "Library" forum with posting restrictions where you submit the article to one of the moderators via email and we add it to the Tech Library? This would be an easy way to make the articles searchable.

Eric you can do like we did over on the Explorer board and make a projects section. Where anything that is NOT a project gets moved. The rules are pretty simple to post in it too. It has to have photo's, and a good description of what your doing. Not step by step instructions but good enough info that the person gets the general idea with the info and the photos. Its worked well so far, give it a look for any ideas.

I think just a page for viewing, not posting. They can always PM the author for other details. And Yes, I think it should go through a moderator to evaluate the worthyness of being a "tech" page....
Required IMO:
-pics- start to finish
-estimated cost of the mod
-Runout of parts used/removed/replaced
-estimated time it took to do the mod
