Over the past few years this board has went from an excellent resource of 4X4 tech, great place to meet fellow wheelers, etc to a more of a chit chat kinda board. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the board, but I do have a suggestion.
Can we limit the number of times an individual person can post per day?
I believe that may get rid of a lot of the garbage posts, rants, raves, etc that we see all day long and may help bring back the good 'old tech and stuff that we used to enjoy.

I think some of it can be contributed to the season change. I know im not on here much during the winter. Now the guys fabbing stuff in the garage is one thing, but thats not me. My recreational activites take a 180 in the winter from my summer ones.
You have a good idea tho. Some people can make 10 topics a day that just link to other sites...its gets lame.

Tech stuff belongs in Gen4x4 - people are limited in that forum by their technical knowledge. That means most of us are extremely limited.
Gen ChitChat is limited only by a person's blarney. Me, well, I kissed the stone so I'm full of it :)
Traffic is good, limits are bad.

I agree with Clyde.
Boooo Hisssssssssss you dont have to read anything you dont want to just stay in gen4x4 I am not on here much during the winter months unless I need something or on occasion when I am bored at work and have time for the general chit chat. When I need info I am not bothered by the general chit chat section because I know where to go to get the information I need. Maybe a better suggestion would be to re-educate those members who are bothered by the
garbage posts, rants, raves, etc on how to stay out of the forums that are meant for general chit chat??? But again that is just a suggestion.

Simple solution Blake: Stay out of the Chit Chat forum. While some of the BS may get old, I don't believe that limiting posts in Chit Chat would have any effect on the tech content here. Many of the people who post a lot in Chit Chat don't even own a 4x4 and can't/won't post there anyway. The whole purpose of the Chit Chat forum is for non-4x4 stuff, so I guess I don't see the problem...
Want more tech? Post some, or ask a tech question that others can answer.

......Can we limit the number of times an individual person can post per day?.........
and then what, set quotas for those that don't post as much?
A board such as this is good because it recognizes the inherent differences in people. Some like to read then think about it, others like to post, then think about it. :D
Not all are equal in all things, got to keep that in mind.

I would assume heavier traffic (more posts) would also attract advertising dollars.
