I am looking to get one for my wife for Christmas and need some help. What should I be looking for? I have read a few reviews on amazon and it seems the Toa brand isn't very good, but phillips is. The trouble is phillips decor isn't going to be in my wife's taste. She would like something similar to the Toa Mohogany:

I am looking at the 7" screen size, but will go to the 5.6" if the image is very clear. Our camera uses XD cards, so it'd be nice for the frame to be compatible to use the same. I am not real concerned with video or mp3 uses for the frame, although they might be nice.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

These seem to be really cool, but I haven't seriously looked into them yet. Still seem a bit pricey for the end result.

Yeah, I have to agree, but that's part of Christmas.

There's info out there about making those from old laptops. No help for this Christmas I know, just an FYI.

Wal-Mart
Unique design lets you use virtually any off-the-shelf wood 8x10 picture frame in addition to the supplied one
it's pricey, but has it's own memory, so you don't have to use the camera memory card in the frame at all times.

HOLY CRAP, $398!!! You can buy a decent laptop for that. Are all of these things that expensive? I'd thought about one of these for the wife to put all of her grandson pics on in her office, but I can buy a lifetime supply of tacks for a helluva lot less than that.

I looked around a bit, and this seems like one of the better deals out there.

I purchased a ceiva for my parents this year
That way we can post the pics to the ceiva website and the picture frame logs into their account at night and downloads the latest pictures.

Staples had a 7" one on sale for $49 this week. I went to the one by my office, and they were out, but they are bringing me down 3 from Longmont. Perfect gift for my mother, my mother-in-law, and my wife. Going to load the pics on memory cards Friday and Saturday.

Ooh, nice, I may have to stop on the way home and scope this out. What are the specs? Any internal memory? Which cards, etc...

No internal memory. BTW - their website is out of these. If the store you go by doesn't have any, they can order them in from another store.
They did have a 3pk of 1GB PNY SD cards for $30. Good deal on those.
Linky to item (http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StaplesProductDisplay?prodCatType=1&storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&productId=167225&cmArea=SEARCH) - $49 per the weekend insert

SO I call the nearest Staples, give them the Stock # and item description. She tells me that they have 8 of them in stock. I get off work and drive down there. they are all out. Might have some on Friday.

Tell them to order in from somewhere else. Casper had some, should be able to get them sent down.

That is a good deal. I ended up getting my wife the Kodak one at Target. No complaints. Let me know how the Staples one works out, that is a great gift!
