Anybody go out this past weekend? I went with a buddy on Sunday to wildlife areas in Wellington and Loveland and got skunked just like deer/elk season :(
Anybody know of some good places around Northern CO?

Saw a ton of geese on Saturday, but nothing close enough to even think of shooting at. It was good practice setting up the spread, moving things around, and all that. My new call sounds good.
I was hoping to sneak out one morning this week, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. And the weekend is booked as well...
Oh well. It's a long season. I'm sure I'll bring home a few birds.

Saw a BUNCH of geese flying this afternoon. Anyone know where they're headed? I assume they're heading for open water/rivers. Anyone out east seen windswept fields?
I'm afraid the goose hunting is going to be dead around here for a few weeks.

Yup. We're screwed. Hunted this past Tuesday and Thursday. Saw some birds on Tuesday, but they were on their way out of the area. Saw exactly one flock thursday, and they were not at all interested.
This was all around the I-25 and hwy 52 area. I've heard things are a bit better out east.

I'd love to hear more about where they were, how much open land/water they were hunting, and the size of the decoy spread. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to reveal your super seekrit spot. :D
Saw some guys hunting in a weird spot on Saturday. North of 136th, south of 144th, between I-25 and Huron. That location is perfect for getting some of the westminster/broomfield golf course birds. I guess I just assumed it was annexed into city limits.

Nice work! It's a great feeling, isn't it? Whatever you do, DO NOT sit down and try to figure out the price/pound of those birds. It'll just make you cry.
So, what were they? Mallards? Something fun?
