Well with the libs in power, you can expect a full on assault on our freedom of choice to ride lid free, Now wether you wear one or not, you should support the freedom of choice for all. We have been lucky to be helmet free for so long, and the trend toward complacency will be the libs biggest ally, they will try and sneak it under the radar. So just a reminder to be ready when it happens...

I came from a state in which it was law to wear one. I enjoy having the right not to wear one, even though I do. Keep us posted if you see anything in the works!

I lived in Cali when the law changed. At the time I couldn't believe it was happening. Let's just hope our star quarterback doesn't fall off his ride and bring the issue to the forefront.

I do believe we are only one of 3 states left that do not have a helmet law.

You mean the Libs that are so much for freedom of speech and always for the people? They wouldn't do something like that. Might infringe on someones freedoms. :flipoff2:
I will keep my feelings toward them to myself. I hope they don't go screwing it up like that.
Adults should have that choice of whether to wear it or not.

IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED

Colorado House Bill 07-1117 has passed the T&E committee with an 8-5 vote. The vote went strictly down party lines. The bill has been amended as follows: HB07-1117 be amended as follows, and as so amended, be referred to
the Committee of the Whole with favorable
recommendation:
Amend printed bill, page 2, line 6, strike "BE A PASSENGER" and substitute
"CARRY A PASSENGER WHO IS UNDER EIGHTEEN YEARS OF AGE";
line 8, strike "IS WEARING A PROTECTIVE HELMET" and substitute "AND
THE PASSENGER ARE WEARING PROTECTIVE HELMETS".
Page 3, line 6, strike "BE A PASSENGER" and substitute "CARRY A
PASSENGER WHO IS UNDER EIGHTEEN YEARS OF AGE";
line 7, strike "IS WEARING A";
line 8, strike "PROTECTIVE HELMET" and substitute "AND THE PASSENGER 42
ARE WEARING PROTECTIVE HELMETS".

We need to take notice. This is the first step. We MUST defeat this bill. We had a decent showing at the committee hearing, however, not the support I expected. I understand we all have jobs, but only 20 of us were there to testify and I greatly appreciate those of you that attended. ABATE has 100 times that number as members. Where was everyone? Do you think this bill is no big deal? Think again!! Next year we will ALL be wearing helmets mandated by our government if we don't defeat this bill now. If you don't care about your rights, you once again will take no action. Those of you that DO CARE, we need everyone to contact their respective legislators and urge them to vote NO on HB-1117. We need to defeat this bill on the House floor. It will be up for 2nd reading on Monday February 12, 2007 If you believe in our rights, take action and email or call your Representative and ask for a no vote on HB-1117. The time to act is NOW!!! Please distribute this email. ABATE's formal position is posted on the ABATE web site under position papers, you are welcome to use any or all of the information on that page. If you don't know who your Rep is, you can find the info at Project Vote Smart - American Government, Elections, Candidates and Voting (http://votesmart.org/index.htm) type in your zip code on the left hand side.
