Hi, gang. Since my company, Hanksville Hot Rods, just became a supporting vendor I wanted to re-introduce myself and give you some info about what we do. We have an in-house mandrel bender and we specialize in custom performance exhaust, headers and roll cages. We also do late-model Ford modular motor drivetrain conversions.
We are not a typical off-road shop, in that we don't specialize in hard-core off-road products and don't compete with the great fabrication shops that are already supporting vendors. Instead, we just specialize in the services mentioned above. I like to think that we compliment other Colorado4x4.org vendors, since we are unique in having our in-house mandrel bender. We supply bends and exhaust fabrication services to individual customers as well as other shops in town who hire us to install exhausts on their own customers' vehicles.
I have a slightly modified '68 Jeep Wagoneer that will someday get back on the road :) and we have worked on several Colorado4x4.org members' rigs such as a very modified Grand Cherokee and an Ecotec-powered rock buggy.
We sell and install the major brands like Flowmaster and we are a preferred dealer for Magnaflow. We can do all the types of installs that muffler shops can do, but all our exhausts are mandrel-bent with continuous tubes wherever possible. We don't even own a crush bender. :) We also fabricate custom X and H pipes, instercooler tubing, and custom water tubing.
We offer a 15% discount on labor to registered Colorado4x4.org members, and our prices on bends, mufflers and high-flow cats are comparable with the usual mail-order places.
We're located in Littleton/Highlands Ranch, off Santa Fe Drive just about a mile south of C-470. Come by and check us out, call us at 303.949.3623, or visit us at www.hanksvillehotrods.com. Thanks!

Can/do you make a header for the old Willys/Kaiser F-head 4 cylinder motors? There's some interest in those on another board.
Special Ed GT
November 3rd, 2006, 01:11 PM
Yep, I don't see why not. The toughest part of making custom headers is drawing up and having the flange(s) cut, and also access to the motor. Otherwise, it's good old fabrication skills mixed with patience and the right tools.
I'm always looking for neat projects that will allow us to offer headers that no one else makes. If you think there's demand for it, let's talk! :)

Hi, Rick, Same here - I forgot that you have the Eagle.
BTW we will be getting a bead roller soon that will be able to make beads on aluminum, mild steel or stainless steel, up to .065" wall. That'll help keep the intercooler and water pipes where they're supposed to be. Thanks!

hank, can you give me a ballpark on redoing the exhaust on my 94 YJ 4banger? I want to reroute it around the oil pan instead of below it and the trip to Moab earlier this month pretty much ripped out most of my exhaust!

Please quote a 3" catback for 1997 Ford F350 460, auto, 4wd, crew-cab, longbox. Stainless steel tubing + muffler. Single 3" from cat back to behind pass side wheel.
Could you also add a replacement cat as a seperate line item.
Thanks,

I got Ford Bronco 302 with JBA shorty headers. I'll need a new exhaust from the headers out - "Y" pipe to 3" single, muffler and 3" exit out the side with turndown. Please PM me an estimate.

Hank, As soon as I have some time, I will head over to you. But more to dicuss a better way to route the tail pipe up and out of the way. I looked at a friend's TJ and really like how he routed the exhaust. Tight against the frame and exits behind the bumper. Will show you the pics as soon as he gets them to me.

You guys should make a header for the Renix Jeep Cherokees. There is a huge market out there, and almost no options out there.
I know Id buy one.

Thanks for the idea. The problem is, headers are very time-consuming to make, and the first set is always the most expensive. We do need to make time for header R&D, since there are alot of enthusiasts out there who need headers for underserved applications.

Hank,
Here are the pics of T-Domes Jeep and his exhaust. As you can see, he ran out side the frame rail but crossed over where the frame rail is sloped.
He then follows the frame to the bumper and dumps out behind it. This keeps the tail pipe up and totally out of the way.

We can re-route it, I'd probably tuck it up higher so that it doesn't hang below the level of the bumper. A little closer to the body. Just give me a call and we can figure out a time for you to bring it over.

Hey Hank,
Could you give me a guesstimate for a cat-back system for an '02 Xterra? Got a co-worker that is in need. It's all rusted to hell and needs some love. Dunno what you'd recommend for a muffler but he says something close to stock preferably. Also, he might need a cat for it, got an idea on that too? Thanks!

I have an 1996 Ford Bronco with the original exhaust. I am wondering if you could help me with replacing it. I am thinking that I'd like to replace the manifolds with headers, put in a new high flow cat, put in a hooker Aerochamber muffler with a single exhaust. I'd like to have everything 3". I've done a bit of research on the website fullsizebronco.com and know that the 1996 model is OBD-II and uses 3 O2 sensors and will likely need an exhaust expert so that the O2 bung holes get put in the right place and done correctly. Can you PM me?

Sorry, no, we don't do any machining. We specialize in custom-fitted mandrel-bent exhaust, custom headers, roll cages, and sheetmetal fabrication. We also do alot of custom boost and intercooler piping. Thanks, though!

Hank,
Wondering if you could send me a quote on some headers for a 318 LA. Lots of room in the ramcharger's engine bay, Already did the exhaust (true duals), but the headers I've got are a pain very rusty, and seem poorly designed. Engine built for 1,500-6000rpm, avg usage at 3,000 rpm. I'd like stainless or a coating that will last more than a week (store bought brand's coatings don't seem too, but everyone says your the best so I'm sure you've got something).
Let me know,
Thanks
Diego
Special Ed GT
July 9th, 2007, 07:49 PM
Diego, if you're looking for new headers for your Ramcharger, there are some decent headers out there; Summit has at least a couple of brands that should fit and I wouldn't be able to do any better pricewise than that. As far as coatings go, I would suggest that you get a new set of headers, make sure they fit and then have them ceramic coated while they are still new and unused. You'll probably end up paying more for the ceramic coat than you do for the headers, but that should give you a good, durable coating without spending too much $.

Hank hooks me up with a 2.5" ID 12" long glasspack! I wanted to knock the noise down a little and this was his recommendation. I couldn't find what I wanted at an auto parts store. He shuld have it form me by the end of the day! I'll use this at the tip or end of the pipe.

Thanks Chris! Ricardo, I can't believe I missed your post from September! Glad to hear the Bronco's exhaust is working well for ya!
We recently moved to a larger shop space; we're still in the same building but instead of being in the back of the parking lot  we are now in the two units closest to the street. Lots more room! We're planning for an open house sometime soon.
We are currently doing a custom mandrel-bent dual exhaust on a Vortec V8-powered CJ; I'll add those pics to the Hanksville website when it's done.

Hank,
I'm going to need exhaust routed on my CJ7 build, hopefully by the end of the summer. I'll need everything from the headers back with room for an O2 sensor before and after the Cat. I'll want to keep everything above the bottom of the frame and out of reach of the rocks. Can you give me a general estimate? I'll be dragging the jeep up from the Springs. Engine is a 5.9L Magnum V8 out of a Dodge.
Thanks!!

Hank!
I just wanted to let you know the exhaust you did on my CJ is working great. The Moab trip went very well and my family was very happy with the noise level. It's quiet when cruising on the trail, yet it has a little bark when on the gas. I had no issues with rock encounters and I think I gained a little performance over the old hacked together system. Thanks for the excellent work. I am one happy customer! Let me know if you want some trail pics for your collection.
One other thing, I need a fan shroud fabbed up. Is this something you can do?

Steven, we have done a 5.9/CJ7 exhaust before. It was a dual exhaust, and it sounds like you'd like a single exhaust, but I have a pretty good idea of what's needed. If you can pm me your email address, I'll work up an estimate for you. Thanks!
Corey, that's great news! Glad to hear the family is happy with the sound of the exhaust. Is any heat coming through the trans tunnel from the passenger-side pipe? Pls do email some trail pics for the website. And yes, we can fabricate a fan shroud for you. Email me what you need and I'll work up an estimate. Thank you!
