Eric... I don't want to sound sour, we all think you're doing a great job with the bbs and I support either choice: to stick with UBB or go with VBB. I think the new features of VBB and my familiarity with UBB somewhat even each other out.
Real quick though, I'm not a huge fan of the reorganized topics on the homepage. It comes off as awkward to me. And seeing as we don't have a ton of News announcements, maybe we should use the announcement feature for recent news items and keep the top forums (General 4x4, Trails, etc) at the top. Just my $0.02.
BTW - On another note, I'm still waiting for more featured rig nominations.... anazing how quiet everyone got when I asked for a little help. graemlins/thefinger.gif

Good points. The problem with the Announcements feature is there's no medium for feedback so you'd still be generating a thread for feedback. The motivations behind relocating the news and suggestions forums to the top were improved visibilty for the news announcements (yeah they're infrequent, but if they're buried deep in the forum listing they're overlooked completely), and to encourage feedback as suggestions and response to news announcements (they're announcements but feedback is encouraged/appreciated). Made more sense to me to have the news/suggestions up top, but if I'm in left field on this one it only takes a few seconds to change it back.
How about some feedback on this one? New layout better or worse? I'm no mind reader here graemlins/thefinger.gif
Perhaps I just wasn't using the "news" section of the front page as effectively as I could have too.

You Da Boss, we're not worthy... graemlins/thefinger.gif
I think its a good change. Mix things up abit now and then. Obviously caught my eye when the main page came up.
As for the UBB vs. VBB, I like the board as is. It's a bit different then the rest. POR's format (VBB???) doesn't appeal to me. The other board i frequent. Turbo Diesel Register switched to VBB as well. I like this better. BUT, what ever is easier for you computer types to manage. The main thing is that it is here and it works. And it serves it's purpose, whinh IMO it does very well. Keep up the good work guys.
ANd for you Rif

Hey... I'm all for it too, less work for me... I'm not the one that said we needed a new spotlight. graemlins/thefinger.gif to that guy. :D

I say put this section back where it was. This board is about 4-wheeling tech, trails, your rigs, etc, not about what's the lastest software we're running. If people really care, they'll look when the little lightbulb lights up. graemlins/idea.gif I say go back, but thats just me. I like this site however I can get it. Keep up the awesome work. graemlins/thumbsup.gif ~Steve

Put it back how it was.
Go look at this (http://www.xterraownersclub.com/forums.html) if you think scrolling is an issue. My members still know where stuff is, and have never complained about the layout.
