View Full Version : Giveaways from supporting vendors?

After reading the whole debacle on Pirate's giveaway, I remembered that when I signed up as a Premium Member on CO4x4 that it was mentioned that there would be giveaways here as well. Well, I've been a paying member here for almost 2 years now, and the only giveaway I've seen is from Cory at Rock'n Rods.

Is it a lack of interest from the vendors? Not that I'm ready to drop my paid membership, but it would be nice to see one of these giveaways here on CO4x4. I know we as a group certainly support our local vendors.

The opportunity for giveaways is there, but it's up to the vendors to decide if they want to use that as a means of promotion. Clearly giveaway threads draw a lot of attention. If you can generate enough support for it, hopefully a vendor or two will answer the call :)

I guess we'll wait and see who will step up then :)

Eric, should the need arise, could the giveaway threads maybe be kept out of the chit-chat & tech forums? Maybe put them in the vendor section (so other vendors may easily see the attention they draw) or in a sub-forum thereof? I think having the giveaway threads in the tech-forums creates a real mess.

Or just keep them in the VIP Forum, that is if the vendors can post in there with their paid vendor status-

Of course, we need a vendor to step up and offer a giveaway first :)

If we have a vendor giveaway, with a poll to decide the winner, can the Mods post threads to attempt to influence the outcome? Oh yeah, that's right, this isn't Pirate. :P

Maybe we could go one step further and have the mods decide who gets the freebe. :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Yes, vendors have access to the VIP Lounge as well. I think last time we had the announcement in the Vendor Forum and the actual thread for entering your name was in the Lounge.

thats understandable, austin, but what will encourage the non star holders to become members if they don't even know the giveaway is goin on?

ERIC, i'll most definitely be a supporting member once i get moved. you can hold me to it!

Chad, if they do it like last time, it was announced in the Vendor forum (open to all), but the actual contest thread was in the VIP forum (via link in Vendor forum).

So, all members are aware of the contest, they just need to pony up the $20 if they want to be eligible for the contest. If only there was a vendor to give something away...

I'm on another forum where www.northridge4x4.com has given away:
complete set of axles and gears
rockhard cage
$250 spending spree,, all in the last year

Clifton has been great for his support of this forum as well and I've been on the receiving end of some great scratch & dent items from his shop.

I spend all my $$ at both of these places

So I joined, I have sent an email to Eric about the vender status but I will give him a couple of days.

But, I regularly give away stuff, raffles for diff covers and SOA kits and I also give things for events. I would continue that here. I just finished the 3rd diff cover giveaway on pirate and am concluding the second on CK5.

I know Eric has posted the vendors welcome should be local business's but I didn't see any Fabrication Parts companies listed, sure, everyone makes some fab parts but we make 160 fab parts and thats all we do.
