Ran with the mallcrawlin crew today. Good people I don't care what people say :flipoff2:

Wheeler is getting easier which is a sad thing but you can still take some good hard lines. One thing that I liked seeing is the growth on the muddy bypass that went through a little marshy meadow, It's finaly starting to look like nature is reclaiming it. I have some pics showing it.

MASSIVE hailstorm. Got a video of it and some pics. I'll throw the pics up later tomorrow but I need someone to host the vid.

Yeah, your SWB rig did OK, but then again, nothing too steep to climb. ;) Glad to have you along.

The hail was wicked but made the trip more interesting.

Yea it was and adventure with the weather and all the water running down the trail. As always we had a great time. The rain was pretty much gone and sunny again by 5pm. Pam and Dave are camping there tonight. Good luck with that.

I think we will return soon with fishing rods in hand. By the number of fish we saw pulled out of that res at the trail head it looks awesome for fishing.

Take care.

...so I was wondering why all you guys had your windows all rolled up. And with the tint that you guys all have, we couldn't see any of you.

And then the hail that was following you up the vallery hit us about 5 minutes later.

Yeah what HE^^^^ said... :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: I knew Keith obviously, and Dave n Pam, along with Scott, but didnt know the rest of ya by the rig.

Damn mallcrawlers anyway...

It was fun, even being completely soaked on the left side, dry on the right and contending with the rain/mist buildup on the inside of the windshield; it was still entertaining. Hail on the thighs is an interesting sensation. Had rain pretty much all the way back. South Park Vally was not especially fun with the 30-50+ MPH side wind from the North... I was never happier to see the summit of Kenosha pass.  :D

So, did you all continue to the lake or turn around? I know we had a couple CLOSE lightning strikes to us... Instant thunder with the flash.

Too bad yall were delayed, wouldve been cool to run with yas.

Yea we went to the top and waited out the worst of the rain a bit. The way down was not too bad. By the time we got passed bowling ball hill the rain was gone and the sun was coming out again a short while later. Sort of anyway. The rain and hail road with us from about mid point to the top which made kind of fun especially with the windows closed. Now you guys are starting to see why they are called Grand Cherokees.

Yea I was looking for you earlier Keith but not a problem we will get some trails in this summer for sure.

There were a bunch of people on the trail today. Mostly Colorado 4x4ers in one way or the other. Pretty cool.

I saw all the ZJs and WJs out there today. You guys passed me when i was parked off to the side in the goldish ZJ. It was pretty cool seeing all the grand cherokees out there. It was an awesome day, and we luckily made it out right before the storm came in...

Yep, had fun today & it was great wheeling with everyone! Nothing broken & had no problems with the harder lines I took.:)

On thing I want to say to all who pulled over for us as we were going up. Thank you so much!!!!! It made it much easier for us. Everyone was very cooperative.

Here's my photos. Sony pics first & then the Canons pics.

The 2nd Obstacle. I had tried running the V without a spotter and found it is a bit harder than to do spotter-less than the Wedgie!! Ended up having to get strapped out.

Nothing like a few inches of hail on the ground

It was kinda cool to see the waterfalls going underneath the snow drifts

Cool waterfall on the way down

This is where we camped. Pretty cool spot. About 100 yards away from the trail with a little trail to drive down there. The creek that flows through that whole valley was probably 20 yards from the campsite.

At the top are the rigs parked on fresh snow or is that from the hail storm? Either way looks pretty dang cold to me  .

That was the hail...

Us TRULY hard core people were up there in totally open vehicles without doors... :flipoff2: That's how I roll.

But OTOH, these Mallcrawlers sure were comfy!
It definitely made for an interesting day. And the lightning, oh yeah, there was a couple strikes on our way down that struck within 100 yards of us. THAT was pretty awesome sight to behold. The thunderclap that close was pretty freakin loud too!

All in all, fun day...
