I think logistically a race of that size is only feasable for the big teams, Hebst, Riviera, Robby Gordon and the like.
Last year i raced the 1000 in a 7 open Toyota with 4 chase trucks, and pits at every available location plus some of our own spots, it was still a nightmare. Dont get me wrong, i think it would be awesome, just very difficult to accomplish. Hell, half of the entries in the 1000 every year never make it across the finish line, what would you expect from a race this size??

Yes it would be very cool, if they go through with it and it becomes an event, even only once, you can count on seeing me race it.

Here's a few shots of my race truck i'm building right now, these are from a while ago, still a lot to do but hope to have it ready by Nov/Dec. Working on building my 4 link for the rear currently.
It is also a 7 Open Toyota...

I would love to race Baja. I tell my wife if we ever move to Las Vegas I am selling the trucks and building a Baja racer.
I would be happy just to be on the pit crew and change tires.

Email Andy Schifanelli - seriously - as he's always looking for volunteers. The contact info is on the web site I linked earlier.

I have been pitting with the same group for over 17 years now and even though I just moved back to colorado I still am going to all of the races. I am going to pitting at the Vegas to Reno race next month 24th - 26th, you going to this one ?
Anyway if you are going to be headed to Grand Junction anytime let me know. I am close and might be able to go play for the day. Also If you are going to race the Baja Mil this year let me know. We are planning on driving the RV and camping in San Felipe for a week either before or after the race and it might be nice to have some one to travel with.

Awesome man, i am planning right now to go to Vegas to Reno and pit for a buddy that has been racing for 35 years, he races a 7s Ranger now, however, today i got some bad news about work and may have to pull out, i'll keep you informed. I've been going to the 1000 every year for the last 5 or so, always pit with Locos Mocos, those are all of my friends that got me into the desert, probably wont race this year, i raced last years in a friends truck, he wanted someone to share driving duties but ended up Iron Manning the whole thing! IF, and thats a huge if, my truck is ready bu Nov, my wife and i are going to cruise to Mex and just watch/chase the race. We'll definitely stay a few days at the least at Pete's Camp and maybe try to hit CoCo's Corner, Mikes Sky Ranch, Scorpion Bay or Mulege. I will for sure let you know. Who do you pit for? Where do you live?

I have been with BFG for all of the 17 years now. It has been great. I have done Jeep Jamborees in Silverton and California, Done tire work on Rod Millins Pikes peak Car and other BFG sponsored cars at the Race. Mickey Thompson races all over the west coast and almost everyone of the Score desert races and a few of the V 2 R's. They are a real class act and really take good care of us because we are all volunteers. We even had an article written in Popular Mechanics about our crew.
We always stay at Club De Pesca in the RV's when we go to San Filepe. I am friends with everyone at Pete's Camp but it is just a bit to far from town for us.
I am out here in Silt so if you get out this way or find out what your doing for V2R let me know. I might be driving to Moab and then riding with 2 of the other crew guys out to that race.

I am most likely NOT going to V2R now. I dont think i'm going to be able to get out of work.
Thats cool that you pit with the BFG crew, we used you guys last year in the 1000. I'll definitely let you know if i head out your way.
