I'm in the Horsetooth 4 Wheelers club and we have Crystal Mountain as our adopted trail to maintain. Well people have ripped the gate down again...and again and again  so we went back up to beef it up and make sure there way no way around it.

I went up with Rockrash (bob) and the day started out with a traffic jam.

After that Bob and I went up Moody for to meet the rest of the group on Crystal. We picked up a TON of trash  Some from last weekend, (we found the receipt from King Soopers to go along with all the trash they left...no name on receipt tho :( )

Then up to Crystal to start on the Gate where Bob the Builder welded/fabbed/torched as best he could with what we had. we put in more barbed-wire fence, dead trees, and drug rocks so that people didn't have any easy way around. hopefully this will work a little better.

After that it was time for a little fun. not much as we had to head back down the mountain.

No that isn't Bono driving...definitely some posing on my part, we were just testing some flex on the new suspension setup. So far she works flawless and stayed VERY level and stable on the trail...(granted this was far from a "testing" trail)

Is that the main gate after the end of moody and end of the public road coming up from 44H? Or where is that gate?

That looks drier than when I ran it last weekend.

Thanks to the Horsetooth 4-Wheelers for adopting Crystal Mountain. I am glad that I could help out. I also went back up on Sunday to finish the welding project on the gate.

... even if I was a 'non-Toyota'. :P

I bet Mark would've let you borrow his truck so you wouldn't feel out of place (well.. if it ran that is...).... I would've let ya borrow mine and wished ya lots of luck on the bald front tires... :o
Good work though guys, I usually pick up lots of trash on Ballard RD. a bit further up buckhorn canyon, though I've never seen much trash on moody/crystal...

Next trip up hit up a few of those camp sites right off the road. Have a bag of trash left over from the highschool kids parties up there. I've filled up a bag before at just one site. Tends to happen after school is over and holidays.

Well, I was in a Jeep in disguise:

If you can make out the cropped photo, that is a "Toyota" emblem on the front of the TJ, thanks to Ben. See, I fit right in. No one even noticed the cloaked TJ. Everyone thought I was new type of Landcruiser.

:P

Yes, that is the gate. It could use a good coat of paint at the moment, but turned out ok...

Way to go guys. I saw you up there Sunday. I was in the black sami running with another member in a black xj. We picked up some cans and cardboard at the Moody playground. Thanks for your hard work!

I swear the gate was still intact when I was up there over the holiday weekend.

The gate was in tact, it had just been abused more. It was tore down the year previous. This was basically building it up more and making a bypass not possible.

And a time for me to check my new suspension setup :D
