We hit the road this morning a little after 7am and waited at the Tomahawk Truck stop for any possible straglers....none fund. So Me, my wife and kids headed off on our own. Traffic on I-25 ids a PITA, one lane for 11 miles south of Colorado City....Argh!

After passing through Walsenberg we passed Mt. Blanca....

Snow?....Pffft

We stopped at the Sand Dunes for a while and let the kids explore for a little while.....

Ain't they cute?!?

And of course there was carnage....

Sure snicker and laugh all you want, but I could have gotten a really nasty blood blister putting that bungy chord on.

All in all a fun trip, tame...but I got to get out with the family and that's what it's all about.

Sounds like you guys had fun. Howd did the kids like the sand dunes. That place is pretty darn cool for a bunch of sand.

They had a blast, but we didn't spend alot of time on the dunes. They even enjoyed getting the sand out from between their toes...

Must have been fun, I was not there to give you a dirt bath :D

That is a fun place.

How were the water crossings on the pass?

No play by play this time, next time though...I promise!

Water crossings were easy....there's hardly any water in the streams at all.

Huh, that's not good :( Some of the deeper streams were to the bottom of the doors on my stock Toyota truck last year around this time.

Hey Frank, did ya yank any yuppies out like we had to? Got a WJ out as we came down the dunes, good times though. The creek was great to cool off in.
We ran in on Sunday, saw lotsa humor for sure.

No, We saw very few people on the trail. Kinds nice to have the trail mostly to ourselves.
