MOAB 2006 May 19th to the 22nd
Well I gotta say this was a great weekend of wheeling. We hit poison spider mesa, Golden spike, Gold bar rim, and steel bender. We hit a few other off trails after those. We had my XJ on 32s open front and back with stock gears. Two TJ?s one with 33s and a limited slip in the rear and one on 31s with a locker in the back. We Had no break downs the whole time. Some good skid plate damage here and there, but it was a fun safe exciting trip. We only had to tug me over the crack just a bit. Other than that we never had to pull winch or anything as far as our three rigs go. We had to give some guys in a ruby a pull on the winch line. That?s a story on it?s own. We have no idea what he was thinking. As much as I would have liked to see someone go down this obstacle that day it wasn?t going to be anything short of a rock buggy, or someone with some mad skills and a killer setup. Camping was great thanks to the moab rim campsite. That place was great. Well worth the money. The jeep did great getting out there and back. I spent 193 bucks in gas. I thought I was going to be in the 250 range. The jeep had no over heating problems at all. I didn?t have time to install the hoodvents before leaving, yet it pulled through just fine.

Pics and video should fallow in a day or two. We got home late last night and after we had dinner and unloaded some items we all I can only guess just crashed for the night. I haven?t even had a chance to unload the jeep at this point. Still have all my camping gear and stuff loaded up.
I now have a good idea of things to work on and what I need for out there. The new bumper held up great the only thing I hit with it was that lower cross member skid in two places and it held up great. That rear hitch of mine is a different story. BOAT ANCHOR. I hit both sides of the rear bumper and one spot on my driver side rear fender, but that?s going to be cut off here soon.

Uneventfull as in didn't break chit then yes me too. Wish you were there. Always reading post about moab and seeing pics just never do that place justice tell you get out there. Some stuff was nuts never being up on there before you come up over a obstical and don't know if it's flat up top or a drop off because your just looking into the sky or the horizon most of the time. I'm going over to marks tonight to give him the camera back. I have a different card reader than whats in his camera so I can't down load them.

What a great trip! Unreal!

I put my TJ through its paces I didn't know it had. I drove over things I thought were physically impossible to do in a Jeep. The 8.8 held up like a champ- the L/S acted more like a locker than I had anticipated. All three rigs performed great.

Poison Spyder Mesa
Golden Spike (including Golden Crack, Launch Pad, Zuk Hill, Golden Steps, etc.)
Gold Bar Rim
Steel Bender
Dellenbauch Tunnel

Only minor carnage... no breakage. I ended getting an alignment before coming home. Jdogg4 suffered only typical rock rash. "Skidbender" suffered the worst as far as carnage... he will need a few new brackets for his gas tank skid and his engine skid plate now has a crease in it (I suspect Skid Row will replace all for free). Running the smallest tires, "Skidbender" managed to scrape on everything (but he got through everything). I managed to mangle one of the gas tank skid plate brackets as well... not nearly what "Skidbender" did.

Armor is not optional at Moab. I even tagged my spare tire coming off of a drop.

I did manage to use the winch twice... once I pulled a $45K+ Rubicon Unlimited off of steel bender as he found himself in a world of hurt, looking to roll many times over the edge.

His rig- $45K+
My rig- Much, much less than $45K
His new, never used winch- $1200
My Harbor Freight Winch- $300
... pulling him off of Steel Bender from impending doom with my Harbor Freight Winch- Priceless.

Pictures soon. Great group!

He's slacking.... :flipoff2:

I'd post 'em myself, but since I didn't go, it's not really my place to do so.

And thanks for letting us know how much you went through in gas. That helps! Looks like you all had a great time.

O you like that pick of me do ya. :D
Yep that was one of the best views up there. We ate lunch at that spot. Yep just under 200 bucks both ways and while driving around out there. Thats with 3:55 gears and 32s on my rig. Bob had 3:73s I think with 33s and the yellow tj had 3:55s and 31s, but we all had about the same GM going on to and from.

Of J?

My TJ is on 33s and 3.73s (currently- hopefully 4.56s before too, too long)- the rear is an 8.8 which I swapped in 2 weeks ago. The yellow TJ is on 31s and 3.73s.

Nice pics Bob!

Is Joe going to send video footage? I'd love to edit down & play with some of the raw stuff if he can put it on a DVD & send it this way!

Yes... and the job is yours. It won't be for awhile (probably 2 weeks).
