Damien - is this the same series that was at Johnson Valley last month that I read about on Pirate?

What do the courses look like at CORE? Meaning is Carl re-arranging some rocks?

This event is being put on by CORE only.

The courses will be new. There will be climbs, drops, and jumps that have very little rock, more high speed type stuff. Some good "air time" can be had if willing!!!

C"MON OUT would love to see you there!!!!!!!!

If the race is saturday and sunday we are out. If it is only sunday we may be in, just have a prior commitment on saturday.

Why only a weeks notice?

You know, I hate to be a sour Sally but I don't really want to be involved in anything called "National Trail Racing Associaiton". I did not think it was a great idea to be racing recreational trails in Johnson Valley, but hey, that is Johnson Valley.

Having a race at the CORE park is fine and cool but the NTRA name is misleading. I did a double take when I realized this was coming to CO. I never want to see a race, sanctioned or not, on any of our recreational trails in Colorado. We have enough enviormental concerns going slow.

I have concern that Rock Racing might lead to trail racing and trail racing will lead to dangerous activity and closed trails. "National Trail Racing Assocaiton" setting "world record times" on known trails forms a pretty direct segway.

Like I say, I have no problem with this event at CORE but I don't like the message the NTRA name sends. It is my opinion that XRRA and the host of rockcrawling promoters send a "don't try this at home" message. To me, the NTRA name says - "To emulate these guys, all you have to do is go race trails."

Our family has enjoyed the 4wd trails of Colorado for decades. We did it before we went racing, we do it now, and we will do after we are done racing. I strongly feel that the words trail and racing should not be used together, at least in CO.

You know, I really don't want to be negative. I would love to see a local rock crawling or rock racing series as long as it is in a controlled setting. I would try and support the local involvement but have a lot of heartburn with the NTRA name.

Thanks

There has been some changes made NTRA will have NOTHING to do with the Race at CORE memorial day weekend. Carl the owner of core was contacted by NTRA about holding an event he did not know about their history and past events. Once some research was done it was decided that NTRA was not for CORE or Colorado at all.
Ther is still going to be a rock race/crawl event on Sun. May 28th at CORE and it should be great. We have been moving some things around and are going to set up a cool course with new obstacles.

Yea, it looks like Bob Hazel is the events cord. for NTRA.

It's crazy that Superlift would get so involved with that org.

After learning the real story I will support Carl all the way. He did not no this clown Bob Hazel or what the NTRA was all about. Damian (Ground Control) was just trying to help get Colorado some support. And help Carl and C.O.R.E.
grow and stay alive. I will go to beat up my junk and have some fun because we need more of this sport in Denver area. There are plenty of very capable rigs that can play. You should show support and come out.... Tim "toolman"  JT you should show up as a prerun for CS event

The race at CORE will be next Sunday May 28. The event will be put on by Carl and CORE. The entry fee is now $40 down from $50 since NTRA is no longer involved. So $40 gets you in to the park and in the race.
The courses will be brand new. So even if you have been to CORE you will have new terrain. We will start racing at around 10 on SUN. Saturday the rock area will be open for practice and you can get a sneak peak at the race courses. You can camp out at CORE that weekend and along with the mud bogs, Rally Race, and other events it's going to be a good time.
There will be two sets of courses so we want to encourage evryone to come out. A jeep on 32' s with one locker should be able to handle the easier course and a buggy on 42's will have fun on the harder ones.
People have been calling about rules and if there rig meets standards. Like any type of four wheeling Rock Racing is a dangerous sport and we must have safe vehicles on the courses.

Rules for the race.
1. ALL OCCUPANTS MUST WEAR SEAT BELTS. SEATBELTS MUST BE SECURELY MOUNTED TO FACTORY OR OTHER SUITABLE LOCATON.
2.ALL OCCUPANTS MUST WEAR HELMETS.
3.VEHICLES MUST HAVE SUITABLE ROLL CAGES OR FACTORY ROOF PANELS INSTALLED.
4. VEHICLES MUST HAVE SUITABLE EXTRACTION POINTS FRONT AND REAR.
5.VEHICLES MUST CARRY A TOW STRAP AND FIRE EXTINGUISHER
6.WE HAVE THE FINAL SAY. IF IT LOOKS UNSAFE, YOU DON'T RUN.

I am sad to see Bob Hazel and his Superlift Adventures turn to crap. I went to a Super Lift Offroad Adventure in Montrose back 99 or was it 2000? Anyways. That was before this competition crap. I had a great time. Too bad to see it go down hill.

That was before this competition crap. .

Actually it was during. He ran the 2000 Warn Nationals at Montrose and many Comps prior. Comps are anything but crap....come check one out for yourself.

OH I appologize. I did not mean that competitions are crap. Not my scene, but certaily not crap. Sorry if I gave that impression. I mean to say that Bob Hazel has kinda ruined and gone berzerk with his NRTA gig. I prefer a slightly modded rig full of kids and wifey on a high mountian pass. I have no idea how comp guys pay for all that...ROFL. I have lots of the old Goodyear rock comp videos....LOL about as extreme as I get in my web wheeling.

I agree with the Hazel thought. As far as your slighty modded rig  that's what wheeling is all about. Family and fun. Nothing like taking a stock rig over Redcone :)

Anyway we were out till dark last night building courses. We will change and finish some stuff on SAT. The courses for the modified class ( big tires) look a little CRAZY:eek: . Bring your skinny pedal!!!! It will be a great day on SUNDAY so COME ON OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didnt get any pics, but was some good racing going on there, great course, great competition, we missed the second half unfortunately, so i dont know the results, but do know everyone was having a blast, kept waiting to see the channel4 camera guys get run over,, very brave camera guys, or they just didnt know any better.....

No pics here either...Was too busy trying to keep the rubber side down. Channel 4 news will have a half hour show July 1st @ 6:30. One of the camera guys decided to ride with me on my first run. He attached a camera to my roll cage and attempted to watch the monitor as we went along :D
He found out quickly it was better to hang on tight  I saw the tape and it was a riot, at one point I dropped a pretty steep rock and he cracked helmets with me. I looked over and said "that's why we use helmets" I hope this gets Carl at CORE some good support.
Ryan took 1st in the open and Critterzuk took 1st in the stock class and 3rd in the open class :hail: I took 4th (too many penalty points:D ) I would like to thank Damian from Ground Control 4X4 he worked very hard on this. I hope we have more of these as it was a blast. Tim "toolman"

What am I chopped liver!!?:flipoff2: Damian and I worked hard to set this up in a short time. Thanks to all who helped out. Hopefully we made a little cash for Carl!! It was a good time for everyone. We will put on another race in the fall. This time with way more notice and hopefully some more prizes. I want to thank 4 Wheel Parts for the prizes donated and Carl for getting the awards made up. I hope everyone went home happy!!!!!

Like I said last week this was a great chance for people to be on TV and make your sponsor happy with some airtime. While check out the 30 min Colorado Getaways show the week of July 1st. Everyone got some TV time, Tim's Jeep got some good airtime at the end of the day and my buddy Luke's BEAT CJ-5 did as well (this could have been you) !!!! The TV guys were filming all morning long, and then came back again doing interviews in the PM.

Also next race we need more stock (35 inch and under rigs) Tony who took 2nd had open diffs and 33's. Everyone was able to drive there rigs home. The stock course was fun and challenging but doable. I know there were alot of peopel scared to run there rigs......take off your skirts boys and come racing............CRITTER WILL SHOW YOU HOW IT'S DONE:D

Once again thanks everyone for comming out and showing support. If you did not make it...........BE THERE FOR THE NEXT ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
