View Full Version : 05.13.06 Indy [pics]

I went down on Friday night to camp and hang out with some of my friends. We walked the trail that night under the full moon so some of the guys could see what it is like. It was super nice out....and great to be camping again.

We woke up the next day and hit the trail....I didn't take that many pictures because I was concentrating on the video....which I'll post in a day or two.

We decided to take dale on a different line because of how short his wheelbase is....and we knew if he tipped over...he wouldn't go very far. I think this line still made him nervous though :D :

The video of this next shot should be pretty sick....he kept driving through this like a champ. It was pretty cool to watch:

Next we put Bryan in there.....it didn't go quite a smoothly as when Chris did it. He ended up on his side and as we tried to get him out....it just got worse. He eventually busted out the back window as we pulled him backwards to start over. The second time he just took a winch to get him through it....and I don't blame him....he got worked:

Dale didn't do a whole lot better....he got wedged in there pretty good and broke a birf trying to back up. We winched him out....and he figured that would be a good time to put the longfield in there that was just sitting in the back of his rig.

The rest of the trail was pretty smooth. Chris walked the right line of the submarine rock.....that should be good video too. Dale made the left line on the first try....musta been a wheelbase thing.

The exit has gotten easier, but it is still really tough. Chris got hung up on the very last ledge on his rear diff. The other guys took the winch pretty early on....it had been a long day by that point and they were both ready to get off the trail.

It was a really good trip though and I'm glad I went down to hang out with them.

SERIOUSLY. You need to get to a trail that isn't in your backyard for once. I think you would have a lot of fun there.

the video of chris in the a-hole should be stellar.

things i learned:
1) my rig is too small for indy.

and that concludes my weekend. :D

Nice pics!!! Gosh seeing everyone's stuff I want to go but can I? 35's, gears 4.10's, locker in rear, 4.5 inch lift, 2 inch body? Do I need ot be bigger and or have both front/rear lockers?

The 35s are ok, but you really should have f/r lockers. There is an easier part of the trail called Liberty.....you'd be better off over there, but there are a couple of sections I can think of that you might have trouble without a front locker.

Yeah, he got worked over pretty good......he almost couldn't get his door to latch back at camp when we put it back on. Chris had to tape his door shut to make sure he didn't use it. :D

I haven't started the video yet.....hopefully tonight or tomorrow.

I have to agree that parthym had a tough time in the A-hole. He was really sideways and it took a while to get him out. As for me I took a bad line and had to winch out after I fell in and broke a birf.

Yea Wally, It is kind of weird that I have broke twice this year allready after only one incident all last summer. But I seem to have some kind of bad karma on Billings. I will make it back and I will finish it again this year.

Great video! Did he make it out of the exit without winching? It must rock so hard to be able to crawl that slow. That's awesome.

He got hung up on his rear diff on the very last ledge.....his whole truck was up top and it just wouldn't pull through. :( It had been a long day by that point....so, we decided just to winch him up instead of repositioning 100 times to get him over it.

Great vid Brian and nice driving Chris. When is the next trip??? God, I am fiending for this trip!! No more stiches= Balls to the wall. Truck is gassed set a date.....

darrick took a vacation to Lamplighter Lockup Island for a little while, his flight should be returning sometime mid october.
