 Well....This was really my first time out with a good size group from Colorado 4x4. We had talked earlier in the week about meeting at the Home Depot near Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. around 8 in the morning. It seemed that a pretty good sized group was going to be coming out.

8 am, myself and a couple of other were at Home Depot, wondering how many were actually going to show for the trip. Luckily by about 8:15 we had 10 rigs there. The weather looked pretty gloomy, as if were going to be snowing up Old Stage Road. Around 8:30 we headed out to the end of the payment and aired down. At this time we also met up with Springs ZJ, who would be the last addition to make eleven.

About fifteen minutes later, we started up the road to the first trail, Saran Wrap. The first real obstacle seemed to be a breeze for most, except for our token stock Jeep. With a little help from the v8 powered monster Jeep he had no problem getting up the hill. Maybe a minor scratch from the tree at the top of the hill, but thats the name of the game, right?

After the first obstacle we made our way to the top of Saran Wrap.

Up the last hundred feet or so was quite a challenge for myself. Some people made it look really easy. There was a small amount of damage done on the rock sticking out. It just seemed to suck in the Jeeps like a magnet. Luckily nobody recieved major damage, a couple of close calls though.

After making it to the top. We decided to turn around and come right back down it. Unfortunatley, I was not able to get any pics coming back down.

Next, we made our way back down the trail and over to Eagle Rock.

The three of us in the back of the group kind of split off from the rest at the beginning of the trail. We decided to play a little, and try to get some good pics while the rest made their way to the top. Though I do have to admit, myself and Springs ZJ did make it over the big rock at the beginning, and we had to take pics of that.

After spending a good amount of time on that rock, we made our way up the trail. We met up with SYRubi, and made our way to the top.

Once we reached the top, we learned that RKYMTNMULCHER had lost a couple of U bolts. Thanks to some great imaginations, it was put together enough to get him out of the mountains, and home to get some new ones.
Also on the way out of the trail, a hydraulic hose was lost, which just took a few mins to fix. Making it to the bottom of Old Stage Road, we thought the damage was over, little to our knowledge it was not. We aired back up, and everyone went on our ways.

LoopiJeepGirl, SpringsZJ and myself all headed up Circle in search of air. While driving down the road SpringsZJ's track bar bashing decided to blow out, causing his passenger side to disconnect. Limping it to a stop on Circle, he got a little help from LoopiJeepGirl's winch (from the middle of Circle mind you), we got some help from a neighbor near by and pieced it back together just in time for the Meet N Greet.

Thanks to everyone for coming out, and thanks to Staples for putting it together. It was a great time. The weather turned out to be nice pretty much all day long, and I think I speak for everyone when I say it was a fun trip for all. Looking forward to the next Jeepin journey.

Yeah it was a really good run. Snow made some of trail "interesting" Nothing like your jeep sliding sideways right at the big rock or tree. I didnt' get any good pics cause i was too busy getting spotted and pulled off my rear diff

Hey, great write up Jason. It was a blast and an absolutely great group of people! It was nice meeting all of you. I bent my drag link up that first big rock on Saran Wrap. It was rubbing on the front of the axle and making a clicking sound all day. I ended up taking it off Sunday and bending it back into shape with a BFH. It's all lined up now. :D

Glad to hear you were able to "readjust" your draglink

May 2nd, 2006, 04:51 PM
readjust I like that so just how big was the BFH?

May 2nd, 2006, 07:46 PM
Yeah, "readjusted". I think it was a 5-lb with a BIG swing. :)

I just wanted to thank everyone for an awsome time and all the help when I blew my hydraulic line at the end. Look forward to another trail run and meet and greet soon.
