I had fun even though I didn't get to meet everyone who was probably there on Saturday! I did get to say hi to Tiff finally though. :) And it was good to meet the COHVCO guys.

We had a great time today! I didn't realize when I signed up that I'd be trying to run with the big boys & girls:shrug:. I really enjoyed getting to know you all and hope we can meet up again (once we take care of that little clutch issue:( ). Unfortunately the few pictures on my camera aren't worth a darn. I think it time for a new camera. Please email me what you got! jeepinwelch@earthlink.net

I do have to say that Dmies stole the show and took some pretty crazy lines. I had fun standing out in the growd and listening to the people that have never seen these vehicles do something like this and the comments they made. Once when the Orange jeep was going downhill and had the back end up in the air a little everyone thought he was going to roll.

We had a good time and look forward to a bigger show next year. Like Clyde said I hope for more vendors next year.
By the way Explorergurl had a lot of fun helping out in the booth and I hope some of you stopped by and say "HI"!!!!

Becky and I had a great time today meeting everyone that participated in and attended the Expo. We had a really great time on the rock course. I have pictures of the event but do not have a domain to download them on the website. If you participated and would like copies PM me and I will arrange delivery of a disc with my pictures on them. Thanks again to all.

I was pretty dissapointed in the lack of 4x4 vendor support & attendance at this year's expo. I assume that's because of EJS, though the Expo I went to a few years back didn't seem much different/better. I highly doubt I'll attend another one of these shows.

On the rockcrawling demo: Is there any way to have two seperate 'courses' setup? It was extremely boring watching a stock'ish' vehicle try to navigate the course, only to have it walked over by the more 'built' vehicles. Maybe one course for the stock'ish' vehicles would help new people to the sport realize that they don't need the insanely built vehicles to get started, while having a more difficult course could keep the excitement going for the veteran spectators.

Hey Tom, if you would like me to host your pics for you let me know and I can set up FTP access and get them posted.

Was great meeting you and your fam yesterday. And all the other folks I saw and talked to made it worth the price of admission.

I do agree that the lack of vendors was disappointing. There was a pretty good amount of motorcycle vendors, but that was about it.

Had a great time and it was great to finally meet some of the people on the board. The pictures are great. Thanks to everyone who helped spot me though some of the lines. Evevyone seemed to have a good time. There were definatly some great vehicles. Sunday was totally a show with lots of sweet rides.

My sentiments exactly. I went the first year they had this and was disappointed. Went the following year (2004) as the crawling was added and was disappointed again. Same story this year. Thank goodness the tickets I bought were discounted. Hopefully someone at Big As All Outdoors will see this and get a clue on the scheduling. Every year they put it on during EJS.

Nice to meet you Steve and Powderhound!

It was fun to watch dmeis try to make the best out of the lack of difficulty in the rocks.

FYI for all - Discussions have taken place with Eric, and he is already working on making the expo at a time that does not coincide with EJS. Thanks one and all who participated and those who came to watch. We had a great time on Saturday rearranging the rocks, and it looks like those on Sunday had a good time too.:bounce4: :pbj: :bounce3:

I came with a non-wheeling friend (he is into motorcycles) on Saturday morning and he kept commenting how slow and boring the rock crawl was, especially after watching the bikes bounce all over.

I absolutely think it would be beneficial to have different courses or limit the vehicles to make the course more fun for the on-lookers.

Other than that, I was dissapointed with the lack of 4x4 vendors. Tons of bike, ATV and trailer vendors.

Well for those of you that heard the "big snap" it was the inner shaft all the way up just before the inner splines. Completley smooth too, could not have cut it any cleaner... guess that is why no one heard anything as I drove by.

With that in Mind... I need to find a short side inner shaft for '79 Dodge 3/4 Ton Dana 44.

BTW, Carey thank you very much for the pictures also... they are great.

He is exactly who we were targeting with the rock crawl! Think about it, we all pay a lot of money to go an average of 5 MPH. It is called rock crawling for a reason, not hammer down, be irresponsible and tear up the land. At least you friend took notice of the slow speeds. It was intentional and showed responsible wheeling.  To all those that were participants in the rock crawl! We had one incident on Saturday with an unauthorized jeep on the course and he was asked to leave the rocks immediately. Everyone that was a registered participant did an excellent job!!!

Thanks to everyone on Sunday. I had a good time meeting new people and seeing old friends. It was pretty fun playing around on the rocks. Maybe next year we could have ride alongs to let more people know what it feels like to come inches from rolling over. Heck, they let little kids ride the ATVs... :D

I think this type of event really demonstrated the differences in vehicles and modifications. It may not have been as exicting as a Rock Crawling Competition but it was done with normal rigs and everyday people. I don't believe it was ever intended to be an extreme edge of your seat event.

Thanks a bunch Tom I really appreciated your rig as well. We have to get together and wheel for sure.

I agree with Dave, it?s not intended to be anything other than what it is... an exhibition. I had a blast and hope to do it again next year, will for sure sign up. And Dave it was great to meet you.

As for my axle... I finally got the broke end out today. I had it taken apart all week but my magnet wasn?t strong enough to pull it past the inner seal. Finally I got a 1-1/4 inch piece of white PVC that goes under your bathroom sink from home depot, stuck it in the end of a harder piece, heated the end with my heat gun, slipped it thru the seal and it stretched over the broke end, I let it set a few min and Wala... out it came. The U-Joint was toast as well. Hope the extraction tip helps some one else one day.
