I took the kids on an adventure around the South East Side of Central City. There is a town called Russel Gulch just before Oh My God Road. We traveled on the mine roads in the area. There was large amount of old mine ruins. We played it careful because we did not want to trespass. Therefore we payed close attention to the signs and did not go onto the actual mine properties. All the pictures were taken from the Jeep or in Central City. I had an old map with me to be safe. I suggest if anyone goes there to do the same. The mine roads still had snow on them and were muddy but not enough to impead our ability to go through them. All in all it was a fun trip and we saw more old mine structures in the 2 or 3 mile radius than I have seen anywhere else. For lunch we went to Millies just above the Easy Street Casino in Central City. There was a sweet shop accross the street that had some great candies and ice cream. Central City is much more subdued than Black Hawk which added to the charm. I plan to visit more places like this during the summer and will post them up.

Pretty cool pics. I've never been up those roads. Now you got me wanting to check it all out with the family. Thanks........

I kinda like Central City. That ice cream shop is nice. The Famous Bonanza Casino has an arcade downstairs so I'll take my daughter down there & keep her company while my wife goes & plays in the casinos.

I drive those roads just about everyday, lots of back roads throughout the hills. Lots of fun. you would be suprised at where you can get without hitting any pavement.
