Rockfrog Buggy Buildup

Well I figured I would post pictures of my rebuild. Basically scrapped the chassis that I was running and went to a full tube chassis; drivetrain is all the same except the Atlas. It will stay a Willys, reusing the girlle only. Drivetrain is Vortec 4.3, 4l60, 4.3 Atlas, 33 spline Ford 9", and a Dana 44. Suspension- Rear: Whishbone 1 link using a Johnny Joint (thanks Sean!) front will most likely be a three link. 14" travel Fox Air Shox all around. The front portion of the frame is a Wrangler frame which has been cut off right after the front rear leaf spring mounts. There are some pictures of the old set up when I was at this same point almost and some pics of it wheeling, the rest are the current buildup pictures.

I ixnayed the family style cage just didnt like the way it looked, so I just decided to run some straight bars I think it looks way better. I ran out of tube tonight will post more pictures as more progress is made.

EDIT: Since so many people don't like the size of the pics, Thanks to Chris for resizing some of them. And I did resize them to HUGE so people would piss and moan :crybaby:

Looks good! I like the back ALOT better with the straight tubes...good call. Ill show you how to resize your pics tonight if you want.

Pic's didn't bother my low life laptop. Looks cool. What are you thinking about body panels, if any?

I just put the cowl bar on today so the hood will look just like a standard Willys hood. As far as body panels go it will just be flat body panels similar to a regular full bodied CJ, and painted green of some sort. NOT bright kawasaki green though. I will post more pictures soon.

I've been thinking about a 1 link like that for a long time but using a grader ball. What size bolt are you using and are the tabs 3/8's? I'd gusset the tabs either way because if that connection fails it will bend your shocks.

The bolt is 7/16 or 1/2" I dont remember. The tabs are made of 1/4" and they will get gussets, just trying to get big things done first, then finishing details. Thanks for all the comments!

Here are some pictures of the weekend progress when my brother came over helped me out. Finalized the B-Hoop with the cross bar and the diagonals, cowl bar, and got the seat(s) mounted tonight. For the life of me I cannot tell why all the pictures are cocked to one side. Its all level in relation to each other.

Yeah it's come a little ways since I picked it up from you. I was hoping to have it all done by the end of this month but you know how that goes. Guess we'll see you at the race in June.

I will try to get some pics up soon. It is SOOOOOOO close to being done, now it's all the tiny crap like brake lines, steering and making the winch mount. You need to get cracking on yours too!
