I know this is a Jeep forum, and I DID take my Jeep, but I did way more dirt biking and it was awesome. I can't WAIT to go back. We rode 7 mile rim, metal masher, ummmm I can't even remember all the trails. Dropping down Widowmaker on a dirt bike was a little unnerving. Can't imagine it in a Jeep. Wipeout Hill was much easier but there was a hurt or sick cow in the middle of the best line so that was pretty weird.

Saturday we had a group of 14 riders; the fast guys were foaming at the mouth waiting for everyone to get their shit together and go, but I was OK with that, since I could hang with the fast guys but don't have the stamina to do it nonstop so I got lots of rest breaks. I perfected my rodeo clown technique bouncing over one rock ledge but I cleaned all the others so I'm OK with that. Sorry, no bike pix. My boyfriend rode a dirt bike for his first time EVER and totally rocked--nobody could believe he was a beginner. My friend Mark loaned him his 02 KTM 300 E/XC and Kris rode it like he'd been riding his whole life. There were only 3 obstacles he didn't do that I did, and he wasn't much slower, whether it was sand, rocks, or whatever. Kinda disgusting but I'm really glad he picked it up so easily since I didn't have to do the babysitting I was prepared for!

Sunday we did some kind of lame Jeeping. I have a stock rig, so I was sort of limited. A friend of a friend met up with us in a Rubicon Unlimited but her idea of easy trails is just a liiiitttlllleeee different from mine. I barely even had to put it in 4x4 and I went OVER some rocks that she went AROUND even though she had a way better rig. But it was a great scenery trip, so we took LOTS of pictures. I'll post them when my boyfriend sends them to me since they're all on his camera. We went to Gemini Bridges, and a few other places.

Sooooo ... next time we go back, we'll have bikes and probably Kris' TJ that's actually lifted and all so we can hit some better trails! I can't wait!

We had a great time Saturday! While I've wheeled most of the trails around Moab I had never ridden my dirt bike on any. Saturday we did Seven Mile Rim, Metal Masher, part of Golden Spike (including the crack) and rode out Rusty Nail. Everyone made it back to the campground with running bikes and no serious injuries, including the two old fart grandpas in the group, so it was a very successful day.

If you think Widowmaker or No Left Turn on Rusty Nail are scary with 4 wheels, try them on two.

I'm still a little sore...

And before someone posts this, I'll do it: :flipoff2:

:worthless:

I know a few people took pics; hopefully they'll post up some.

I think Frank (DRZ400S), Ruxton (XR400) and Ron (Husaberg 501) may have. They'll be posting them over on www.thumpertalk.com in the Rocky Mountain forum. As soon as I see them, I'll put them up on my photobucket page.

I was down there on the 26th and the 27th and got back today the 28th ridding. We ride the single track on the bikes though! Ill take my truck on the Jeep trails. My dad calls Moab "Disney Land for Dirt Bikes". Did you run Sovereign Trail? It is a brang new trail for dirt bikes. Pretty fun. We have been going for about 15 years. There was spots we rode this last weekend I have never seen before. Not alot of places you can say that about! Nice pics!

We didn't make it over to Sovereign, but some of the other members of our group did, and on Friday morning while I was sorting out issues with the float in my carb part of my group did part of it I think. I can't wait to go back, and we will, and often. In fact if I ever get hitched I want to do it there.

That's more than just "a rock," that's Monitor Butte

Hehe thanks ... I wasn't taking the pictures OR choosing the trails so I don't remember where we were at that time! There were SO many spectacular views. I can't wait to go back.

You're close; 2 out of 3 ain't bad. :flipoff2: That's me on the left and Mark on the right, but it's Shaun (my son) in the middle, not Mike.

Nice pics, got more?

Ahh I saw green. They're not the largest pics in the world.

Ruxton took a bunch. Click here: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/utahexplorer/album?.dir=d3ef&.src=ph&store=&prodid=&.d

Good thing that rock I jumped off wasn't anywhere near that dropoff! I bout hit him twice out on the trail ... hehe.

And, as for more caption edits, it occurred to me that might be Ron dropping off the ledge on Mike's KDX. Not sure but I think I remember Ron wearing a purple jersey and Mike in a light colored one? who knows. Just be glad I remembered everyone's name and what they rode, even if I can't tell them apart in pictures!

No, that's Mike. As he so aptly demonstrated by his attempts to go back up Widowmaker, he'll try about anything. You missed his VERY entertaining trip over the Golden Crack. :D
