I would like to thank Jtw2 from the board for volunteering his day to help my friend Calvin. Calvin went up Bald mountain yesterday following the Wy. group but the snow got to deep so they decided to turn around. When they turned around they hit a small tree or something and it broke there tie rod.
Also Thanks goes to Wild Hare from the Wy group because he decided to turn around and come down and was able to help get my friends Jeep off the trail enough so it wasn't in the way. Wild Hare was having trouble with his tire loosing air so Calvin (having on board air) aired up his tire enough so they could get back to there trailer where Wild Hare then took Calvin to a phone and a place they could wait for someone to come pick them up.
Then today we took another tie rod up and fixed the Jeep. Since I didn't have a winch Calvin didn't know if I could make it but he was surprised how well "THEEEEEE PURPLE" Explorer did in the snow. I'm just glad we had someone else with us in case we had trouble because jtw2 had a winch. Here are a couple pictures from today's trip.

A BIG THANX to Calvin for having on board air and helping us out of there yesterday. I bet we made it out of there faster yesterday than you guys did today. We were flyin in fear of a flat. The bead had tree bark in it and was leaking on our departure.

jeff, i was running 8lbs pressure and at one obstacle we had to climb over a fallen tree across the trail. i hit the tree at an angle and popped the bead off.so stopped and put on my spare. then we did it again a lil farther down the trail and i was out of spares. i was by my self as the rest of the guys were still wheeling. i had turned around because it got too deep for my 4cl trying to keep up with the guys running v8s and 40"s. lot of snow, i used my winch 6 times.

I would also like to thank ThePagan and dustyjeeper because they both sent me a message and said the would help even though it was ThePagan's wifes birthday that day & dustyjeeper was going to have to bring out the old jeep because he had the axles out of the Rubi.
It was funny how in parts of the trail there was no snow at all, but then others there was a good 14" and more. At first I couldn't see why Calvin didn't know if I could make it, but then farther into the trail we got the more snow there was and I was just thinking I'm glad we didn't try going up there by ourselves.

You spend more time working on others rigs then your own. What a nice guy!

Thank-you to Wild Hare for getting us back down off the trail Saturady and to Explorer Guy and jtw2 for getting me back up there Sunday with the replacement tie rod.
It handled a little weird on the way home and a little further investigation found a bent drag link. Steering weird sure beat not steering at all! Guess I will have to find steering parts that are stronger than the trees!

For some reason I can't get the pictures to show up in the message. The link option works but if I try to insert the pictures, they show up like this.
