Today jtw2, dustyjeeper and me.
Winch, winch, winch,winch.
Out of the meadow after dark.
In the snow and dark it's real hard to find your way out.
Looooooooooooooooooooooooooong day.
Did I mention we did some winching?

Welcome to the club. We did the same thing last year. Got on the trail at 10:00am and didn't get off until about midnight. Probably the longest I've ever spent on a trail of that length. Glad ya made it out.

Hey al,
I watched for you guys but i got sleepy then went to bed. I was going to tell you guys to come by for a beer. So did I hear that there was a little winching involved?

Glad I only had a few beers at the time and still has sense to say no I'd rather get parts and work on jeep :D

ya, it was a bit longer than that for me. A little bolt sheered inside my third member so I drove to Windsor w/o a rear drive shaft and pinion. I got home about 2am!

I had a great time though. Now that I think of it there was a little bit of winching involved.

Ya, there seemed to be a lot of winching. Not to mention trying to figure out which snow drift was the trail in the dark.

How bad was the damage?
I never heard the clunk clunk clunk standing out side the Jeep.
All I heard was the whine of the winches.
Did I mention that we did some winching?

I had a good time. It was starting to wear on me by dark though..

I got home around 12:45, and Jeff & I had quite a fun time taking the heep home down I-70 around 45mph..

I dreamt about winching all night.. I think I now have a permanent background buzz in my brain..

I'll try to get the crappy camera-phone pics posted shortly...

Good to meet you guys, after yesterday, I feel like I've known you for years! :D

BTW, the damage isn't bad at all, Jeff just needs to replace that stupid little bolt that aligns the pinion gear.. Quite an adventure driving home in front wheel drive with the locker though.. Kinda likes to kick in when you turn, and jerks pretty good one direction..

I don't remember winching all that much but my cable resembles a birdcage now so maybe I did a little.

all Together now, ................."

Never thought it would apply to...............WINCHING. :D :P

I don't know where you heard that, but you might want to check your sources.. :P

I s'pose the phone takes decent pics. I think the biggest drawback is how long between the time you press the button & the actual photo is taken, lots of things can change by then!

Ahem, Jeff, try to remember your camera next time.. :D

I remember opening up Bill Moore Lake and Mill Creek one year. It took almost 8 hours to make it in less than 2 miles. Lots of shoveling and winching (for 3 days- Memorial Day) That is when I found out my $399.00 Ramsey 8000 was a piece of junk. It would work till it was hot, and then just quit. All the girls with us were troopers, and definitely pulled their weight with a shovel! People always say "why?", "that doesn't sound like fun", but if you were there doing it and actually wheeling and making it where no one else has, it is SO worth it.
Glad you had fun.
Why is it that all the trails are always on the North facing slopes?

Yea, that's why we didn't turn around after getting past it. No one wanted to drive down it.

On that red YJ, those IROKS look like they packed snow pretty bad, worse than those MT/Rs. Was this the case? How'd you like them in the snow?

jtw2
December 1st, 2005, 08:21 PM
on that trail EVERYTHING packed snow. They actually cleared themselves pretty well and did well in the snow. I ended up doing a lot of the trail breaking actually. I likes me Iroks!

December 2nd, 2005, 04:47 AM
Larry's MT/R's did the best, but they don't have many miles on them,
Jeffs did the second best, and I really struggled with my 40% MT/R's.
