Four of us went to moab this weekend and stayed until Tues. We had my YJ, a 2004 Tacoma, a TJ, and a 2000 4Runner. The weather was pretty lousy when we rolled in Friday night, but after that it was really nice. We ran Fins and Things, some of Porcupine and all of Steel Bender Saturday. (half of steel bender in the dark) Sunday we were down to three rigs (the TJ didn't have time to do this run) and did Poison Spyder, Golden Spike, and Gold Bar Rim. The 2000 4Runner broke his rear ring gear close to the end of Golden Spike. We thought we were going to end up camping on the trail that night, but we were able to limp our way off. I think we rolled back into town about 9:30 that night - pretty lucky all things considered. Sunday the guys at Moab 4x4 Outpost were able to hook him up (Thanks to Joe, Steve and Andy - great shop and great guys), but all the parts wouldn't be there until Tues morning so we were down to two vehicles now. We ran Hell's revenge that afternoon with no incident - other than me almost messing my shorts a couple times and a wrong turn after tip over challenge. Tues morning we got up early and ran Metal Masher. I put a wheel up on Widow Maker but didn't have the cajones to even get the rear wheels up on it - that mother is steep!!! We ended up taking the bypass on that one. Made it up Rock Chucker but balked at the loop back to the trail so ended up going back down Rock Chucker to get to the trail. We were in the final stretch playing around on Mother In Law hill when the Tacoma tagged his tcase skid on a rock and punched a double finger sized hole in his tcase. We were able to get the hole plugged back with the piece that broke off, duct tape it on and get some fluid back in to get him back up to Moab 4x4 Outpost where once again they took care of us. They (actually Andy) was able to weld the piece back to the case so once again we got off lucky. We hit some of the slick stuff on the drive back, but otherwise was event free. All in all another great trip that I hated to see end!!! I got some of the pics up here, but it'll be a while before we get the video compiled. Anyway, we learned that a bad day in moab is better than a good day just about anywhere else!

So the highlights: Toyota carnage 2 (ring gear and tcase hole) - Jeep carnage 0 :) (I'm sure that will come back to haunt me)
Trails done: Fins, Steel Bender, Porcupine, Hells Revenge, Poison Spyder, Golden Spike, Gold Bar, and Metal Masher
Thanks - HUGE thanks to the guys at Moab 4x4 Outpost for taking care of us
More thanks - thanks to Joshua at Crawlertech for getting my rig ready for the trip and convincing me I could do a '4' rated trail in it :)

Here's a link to the pics: (I broke it up into four different albums on the left)

For some stock rigs you boys sure had a lot of carnage...guess it's a yota thing :flipoff2:

Andy Muhr at outpost is about as skilled as they come when it comes to welding, you guys are lucky as hell a guy like andy was around to put that case back together!! Good stuff fellas

Yeah the best was when he (Andy) scraped shavings off of the tcase and heated them up to see if it was aluminum or magnesium - very cool! (it was alum btw :)

In their defense, both the yota's were running 2.5" OME lifts, with 33s on the runner and 32s on the taco. I guess that's still pretty stock compared to a lot of you guys though. The runner was locked in the rear when his ring gear let go. I was thinking toyota rears were pretty strong?? I was pretty suprised when I walked back and heard the crunching in the diff - ugh.

What I wanna see is how you managed to be in Moab 11/18-22 and post a trail report on 11/17. :flipoff2:

Yeah I forgot to mention it in my post, but I installed a used Flux Capacitor off an old Delorean on my YJ last weekend. ;)
