Just got back from Moab. It was one of those trips where you just don't want to come home yet!

MonsterZ & I got there by lunch time on Wed, so it was off to Moab Rim for a warmup run. We tried out some of the newer obstacles the land owner has created at the top. I don't remember these being marked the last time we were there but now there are two small loops off to the left marked with paint.

We did some exploring this time. Went to Hidden Canyon, found The Pickle, checked out Tusher Tunnel, and did Sevenmile Rim. We hadn't done Wipe Out Hill since one of our first trips to Moab. Amazing how obstacles don't look as bad as you remember after several more years of experience. Tusher Tunnel is a cool natural tunnel through the rocks. When you walk through, you can just barely see the light from the other end. Easy trail but a cool thing to see and nice place for lunch (good trail for stock SUVs).

We did Rusty Nail and Gold Bar Rim on Fri. Rusty Nail is interesting in the rain, especially the second obstacle (the steep wall on the left or the rocky climb on the right.) Watching the water run off the rocks and form waterfalls down into the canyon below was worth getting wet for...what an awesome sight. Now I have a better idea how flash floods happen! We'd been planning to run Golden Spike backward after Rusty Nail, but with the rain we decided to head back down Gold Bar Rim. Of course, by the time we got down, it was clearing up, so we went over to Widowmaker to mess around. The guys sent me first on Widowmaker so I couldn't complain about them getting it all muddy for my attempt (there was a big puddle at the bottom). Well, I did give it a good try, only to find myself a little too sideways and sucking in some seat cushion. Some winch cable was needed to help me back down without landing on my side. I should've left some more mud on it, because MonsterZ still made it up. He always has to try to make me look bad, dang it. :D

Sat, we ran Coyote. The rain from the day before made it even more challenging. Made me wish there were even more rocks, just to keep the tires out of that thick sticky mud! (It gave a good comparison of Swampers vs. MTRs though. Swampers win.) Great trail. Reminds me more of Montrose than typical Moab stuff. I want to go back when it's not muddy. We were done by early afternoon and were ready for something a little less strenuous, so we took another trip up Moab Rim to show my father-in-law the newer stuff.

Hopefully I can get a few pictures posted up. I haven't graduated to a digital camera yet, so I'll have to try to get some scanned in.

It sounds like you had a blast! I can't imagine wheeling in Moab with all that mud and water.

How would you rate The Pickle -- what trail(s) would you compare it to? I've seen some video but haven't heard much about it.

Looking forward to the pics.

They let you go first because you are so good at finding the right lines! where would we be without you to strap us out of the tight spots? :D :D

Wish I could of been there.

The Pickle was really short. It had 3 obstacles and in between was sandy, smooth sailing. The first two obstacles weren't too bad with the right line. The third obstacle (the one I think they actually call The Pickle) was a big ledge with very little room to maneuver, but it had a bypass.
