Saw 2 other rigs up there.
Of course it wouldn't be a trip report without a pic of Dustyjeeper stretching the cable. :flipoff2:

And how about making friends with the locals?
Had dinner at the Mercantile Cafe in Jamestown after the trip.
Pretty good food and it doesn't hurt to support the local economy.

the merc is always good and the folks are friendly. they have home made desserts and usually have a live band on saturdays. sunday they are only open from 10 to 2 but breakfast there is great.
thursday they do a thing with guest cooks and have sort of a town affair thing going. often they have a band then as well

if you like beer and wine they have that too

Went up at 3am last night and had a killer time with my date. The girl loved it and was scared chitless and did the upper trails too. It was a lot of fun but when I got out of carnage I heard carnage - yep the rear wheel was jacked - lost 2 studs and the other 3 were loosely connected and had to drive 2mi going 5mph at 530am just to get somewhere that had cell service. It was fricking rediculous and I can't believe this happened. The rig has been in the works for 6weeks and 2 k on the rear end and now this happened. But good thing my date was a trooper and not a biznitch about it because we finally got a tow truck driver up on old stage road at 7am and back to boulder.

What a fin night!

Whats the big deal? Not like carnage is likely to cause any damage. 3am is probably the only time LHC isn't packed:rolleyes: Well until recently that is...:D

I didn't even bring tools with me but we had a killer time together. I learned from this situation that I either need to know wha tI am doing on my rig or I need to have someone professional do the work for me. Life is more fun when you take risks, I'm a major risk taker and this night was one that I'll always remember and never forget. -

:wtf:

Youll whistle a different tune when you break something simple and the local tow truck drivers shaft you for 500 bucks cuz you were too much of a risk taker to bring tools or spare parts!

The girl was a 4x4 first timer and the rig ate up the trail, everything including carnage, the hillside, loop and firemans. It was awesome and she couldn't believe the stars it was a perfect setting for luckyness. Sure chit happens and if it was a 500.00 tow bill then I deal with it but that doesn't mean I'll stop taking chances because I love adventure and will always be up for exploring at night or the day. I like to stay away from carnage during the day usually because it seems like there are a lot of idiots up there and the last thing I want to do is take a girl around these people. I love wheeling and it was nice having the trail to ourselves.

Do as you see fit... But get a clue and take some tool's...

But when someone like you asks for my help.... I rag the hell out them.... I wouldn't leave you(anyone) on the trail but you'll wish you would never asked for my help when you have nothing.... I can only hope you'll never make this mistake again... Going along is not smart but many of us do it from time to time but going unprepared is just plan stupid... I carrier everything I can..... I don't go alone much but I have...Because I know I can get home with all my tools and parts... If you would have busted on the trail? You or she would have not been happy...

Just learn from the mistake....

I agree - I can't even imagine what the **** would have happened if it was back up in the trail somewhere. I've had numerous friends that had to leave thier rig behind and came back to practically nothing left (people stole their stuff). It was a really wierd night with this girl and yes I agree with you, I don't think I'll ever make many of the choices that I did that night again. This trail run and poor mistakes cost me a hot chick, mucho dinero and more pain and headaches then I can deal with at this point. I was stupid but I took a risk and fortunately the upside is that something worse didn't happen. She was a trooper about the whole thing but I f....d up with her because I was a little too comfortable with her, she won't call me back:(. It was intense an awesome time but I made some poor choices and can't take them back. OH well, lesson learned but the frustration has become overwhelming.

anyone going this weekend? I plan on going both Sat and Sun unless some other trail comes up for Sunday. Have to run a short one on Sat as I have to go to work after.
