Couple of pics from the dry dock. No the Yacht isn't in for work, yet. I've got another project in the shop right now.
Major chassis mods to a former project CJ. Last go around was all about "no substitue for cubic inches" :D It got the Buick 455, TH400, custom headers, rotated Tcase and a few other minor odds and ends. This time it's all about "where's da beef" graemlins/rasta.gif
So far there's a D60F, HyBrid HP60/14bR, SOA front suspension, 1/4 elip tri-4link rear with wheel base stretch to 104"
Couple of chassis shots:

Front axle/suspension:

1/4 spring pack mounts:

So far so good, long way to go yet.

So,
Are you going to cut the body off at the end of the frame? I noticed the frame ends at the rear leaf mount.

I been meaning to talk to you about some sliders for a CJ5. I've officially put the CJ6 on the back burner in favor of something I can get going a lot quicker. Will send a PM.

Why the hybrid rear? What are the advantages of the 14 bolt outers on that?

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the hybrid rear was done as an easy way to get 35 spline axles to fit through, and not have to deal with spindle boring hassles.

The Rock Yacht sports a chrome prop, you better believe it's all about the bling! graemlins/thefinger.gif
The HP60 helps the d-shaft angle and it needs it. That 455/TH400/D300 setup is a looooong biotch. So, if you're gonna graft spindles onto a HP60 ya might as well use spindles that are cheap, plentiful, and already sized for the big shafts. They're also more asthetically pleasing IMO because the hub doesn't stick out as far as the D60/D70 variety (For whatever that's worth). graemlins/beer.gif

Nice fab work, lookeen goooood!
? for Ya. The D60 up front, is it a Dodge or Chevy? Have you modified the width of it? Is the drive shaft to TH400 going to be an issue?

The other issue it solves is how thin the spindle gets when you bore a D60 to fit 35 spline tongue.gif And when you build your own, already having the correct jig, it is cheaper than boring the spindles.

Those diffs aren't open, that's my new stealth locker! graemlins/thefinger.gif Easier to manhandle an empty housing vs. a loaded one. Getting old and those bad boys are heavy... Front gets and ARB, rear gets a spool.
The HyBrid? Because I can. :D Scott, ER and Camp pretty much nailed this one already. IMO, that's the best solution to getting 35 spline shafts in a FF D60. The 14b hubs are shorter than the D60/70 hubs as ER mentioned and they are machineable to 5 on 5.5" or 6 on 5.5".

Answer for ya, Dodge.
Nope, full width; however, I did remove the knuckles to correct the caster/pinion angle. Factory Dodge runs 0* pinion and about 2* caster. It now is 10* up on the pinion and 5* Caster.
Nope. There isn't really clearance issues, that I've run into, with the TH400 and D300. The Tcase has been rotated up so that helps. This one will get a 2 piece front driveline though.

Very nice work all around, I really like the rear subframe and how you clearanced the tub for the shocks. Is the rear subframe attached to the original frame anywhere else besides on top of the 1/4 eliptic mounts? Just curious as I will "eventually" tube out the rear of mine. Also the patch panels on the front of the frame, how thick of material did you make those?
great work

The sub frame is tied into the 1/4 pack mounts and the original frame to bridge those 2 together. The body mount is also tied in. Once I get the axle and links out for prep and paint i can get underneath and finish the tie in to the link crossmember. The rear of the sub frame will be tied into the cage, via a removable mount so the cage can be removed from the tub.
The frame stiffners on the front section are from M.O.R.E.. They fit nice out of the box, but for this app needed a little tweaking. I highly recommend them on a CJ frame, especially with a big block, D60F and fohdeez.

Wow. That's some cool stuff there & it's basically exactly what I need to do to my Willys. Still collecting tooling & parts though
:(
I doubt I'll need to clearance my Willys tub like that for shock hoops since I'm goin with Cherokee Chief Widetracks but I've gotta beef it and I've gotta get the exhaust reworked. Also Probably gonna do the back first and run it a bit then do the front later.

I like the exhaust creativity. Do you plan on putting something below the tips to pretect them from getting crushed? Wouldnt that rob ground clearance then?

Pioneer, Was planning to have delivered and play with it over New Years in AZ; however, short of a miracle that won't happen. Probably Late Jan before it's out and about... :(
Oliver, FlowMaster Series 80. Intended for a 'vette app. I'll be home all weekend, well maybe not Sat have a snow run in the works...
Snowman, that's a full width axle under the back...
Dave, No skids for the tips. 1) they will be 36"+ in the air and 2) the rear of the tire will be behind them... :D

Willys tub in the back is the same as a CJ-7 as far as the wheel wells width.
Nice work by the way! That and fast. I couldn't bother to do details like the shock covers, but that is a real nice touch.
