So the VBB software can send an email notification for new private messages, but what would really be handy is if a user could specify an email address that is different than his/her registered address.
The ability to receive an email notification to a mobile phone, pager or crackberry would be brilliant.
Of course, the PMs I receive on colorado4x4 don't tend to be matters of life or death, but I still think it would be fun.

Better yet, is there an option to send the contents of the PM in the notification instead of just a link? I get mine on my blackberry and it'd be nice to gt the whole body, not just the subject.

i think we could with the old software, Cresso. it must be a vbb vs. ubb thing.
the problem with the old way, is that i never knew if my recipient had actually read the PM. the BB software said 'unread' but i have no idea if they read it in their email notification.
BTW, Doug- did you get your engine stand back? i'll swing it by if Greg hasn't already.

1) The software does not currently allow you to provide a different email address to be used for PM notification. If I knew how to modify the code to allow this I would, as I think it's useful. I've suggested it to the software vendor but it is not on their list of upcoming features.
2) The PM notification used to include the message body, but I removed it. Too often users would reply to the email and flood my inbox (since the notification is sent from CO4x4, not from the user writing the message) instead of clicking the provided link and THEN replying as the instructions specified. So, to avoid confusion, you now have to follow the link to read the message.

Can you not change the "reply to" in the email to include the email address from the person sending the email?

No big deal. I appreciate you looking into it.
