Seems like only the good things go away. The bad stuff seems to stick around and never disappear.

Will his funeral be protested? (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/17/fred-phelps-funeral-poll_n_4979747.html?utm_hp_ref=politics&ir=Politics)

And no, they won't go away, they'll find some way to blame his death on something other than his poor health and life of hatred.

I wonder why his family kicked him out of the church he founded?

I hadn't heard that they did.

Really, I hope it isn't. I would rather see his funeral completely ignored. All he sought was fame by his antics. No need to continue highlighting him.

One of his son's (estranged) did....

Nate Phelps, an estranged son of Phelps, said in an email to The Topeka Capital-Journal last week that members of Westboro had voted Phelps out of the church. Shirley Phelps-Roper also confirmed with the paper of her father’s passing.

Reading that article it states that Nate Phelps said they'd voted Fred from the church...Nate who broke away from the Church 37 years ago. Not sure I would be trusting his statements on inner-church matters.

I wonder what it's like to be Fred at this point? was he received into heaven or was he one of the folks that Jesus said "depart from me I never knew you"? its a fearful thing to stand before God at the end. it would not be a good day to have God close the door in your face!

Would you trust the statements of the Westboro Baptist members period? :)

Maybe estranged son and daddy-o started to talk again.

"Daughter Margie Phelps told The Associated Press that Fred Phelps, whose actions drew international condemnation, died around midnight Wednesday. She didn't provide the cause of death or the condition that recently put him in hospice care."

Maybe no reason for the death, maybe they don't want us to know it was from AIDS. would not suprize me.

Being that they seem to ostracize anyone who doesn't fall into their warped sense of the world, I would have expected them to throw Fred out and scream about how he's going to hell.

Slayer To Protest Westboro Baptist Church Leader Fred Phelps’ Funeral
http://tyrannyoftradition.files.wordpress.com/2014/03/kerryking.jpg?w=479&h=710

Carrying signs saying “God Hates Self-Righteous Fanatics” and “At Least Satan Has Good Taste In Music”, members of the heavy metal rock band Slayer today camped outside the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas waiting to protest the funeral of WBC leader Fred Phelps. An outspoken critic of people of other races, homosexuality, heavy metal and pasteurized milk, Phelps passed away earlier today after suffering a severe heart attack when informed that Ellen DeGeneres had a popular television talk show. He was 84.

Animosity between Slayer and Westboro has been mounting since Phelps threatened to picket the funeral of Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman last year. Phelps, who fronted a Carnivore cover band known as “Jesus Hitler” back in the early 90′s, felt that beyond being a group of unwashed heathens, Slayer simply weren’t very good anymore. “They have profaned the name of Christ! That is obvious. But worse, they really haven’t recorded anything worth listening to since Divine Intervention!” said Phelps in a fiery sermon 3 months ago.

By protesting, picketing or even publicly celebrating his death does it not make those any different than the one they despised?

I would only hope that the WBC and their hate wound fold with their loss.
