I got a new cart to haul the sammy around on. Living area is tight but it's just enough for the GF and I.

The trailer's axles and deck have been upgraded to haul more weight even though with my samurai fully loaded, I'm still within factory specs. Stock axles are 2 x 3500LB this rig has 2 x 5200 Lb Dexter axles:thumbsup:

Time to drag it out to Moab for a test next weekend! I'm stoked!

what are these called? The flat bed with a small living area? Is it home build or can you buy these?

This is a 2004 Wanderer by Thor Pack Rat. it is the 221Tb Model which is the biggest they ever made with a 8' wide by 14' long deck. It weighs ~3800lbs empty so even fully loaded with water and gas and the samurai it is below 7,000 lbs. There is a queen bed that pops down in front, over the tongue. It is self-contained with big fridge, stove, microwave, heat, AC, toilet, shower, radio, flat screen, and an awning/patio room that cover most of the deck once you unload. It's a sweet unit.

Huge fan of it, but I think you're underestimating the weight. If it weighs 3800 dry, I bet it's closer to 8000 with the Sammy and fluids. Not that it matters; still wicked cool.

3800lbs, Sammy is 2800lbs with everything in it, fuel, jerrycan, Tools, spare, etc. Water tank is only 33g. ~130lbs, 10g LPG 42lbs add in 250lbs of gear and there's 7k! Cummins pulls it well either way! Thanks for the comments folks!

Very nice!

Water weighs ~8 lbs/gallon, not 4. I'd imagine liquid propane, gas, etc. is close. Not a huge difference on your numbers.

I am going to have to research this...My wife is pushing to "camp" in something more than a tent with our baby. This may not be enough space, but maybe there are other models? I'd have to have the larger axles. Trouble is I'd have to keep my small trailer for non camping trips.

Nice set up...I knew there was a couple wheelers here in FTC. Glad to see another one with a great set-up!

all of these trailers had the same size LQ. It is tight but it tows easy and beats the heck out of a tent! And the heavier axles were the POs aftermarket upgrade, not an option.:D

thanks, yeah I was commuting the poor thing for a month or so, while prepping the samurai for Moab.

your just jealous.... Haha:flipoff2:

if you check RVtrader nationwide you'll see that people sill pay a premium for these things. Retail new was 16-17K, most go for around 10k and that's with stock little axles, I paid ~7k

Nick, when did you put your sammy on toyota running gear?

when I bought that white tintop and stripped it of all it's goodies! 3-4 months ago
