Who are these people? This article is one of those that says we're ruining it for everyone, and they mention TrailDamage.com:
http://www.rockymountainbullhorn.com/cover.cfm
I'm not sure if I should respond or not. They didn't actually say we were doing anything wrong, but they imply it by putting the club link right next to descriptions of people doing bad things. I kind of think I should stay out of it. If anything they're just driving more people to the site and we tread lightly and all so I'm not worried about any of that.
Interesting...

I saw that yesterday. The pictures in the article are hilarious. They took a toy H2 and a toy ATV and tried to stage them to make them look real.

honestly Monica, i don't think your website name helps things any. i know what you mean by "trail damage" but it's easy to see how it could be misconstrued by extremist environmentalists.

I get a server error, I'll try again later.
Austin has a good point, the name could unintentionally draw attention from anti-recreationists. However, this can be a good thing provided you continue to display the good side of environmentally-conscious enthusiasts (offroaders) :) "They come seeking blood and find only bread" sorta thing.

The Forest Service?s proposed off-road-vehicle rule would end unrestricted cross-country riding, which is allowed in some forests and not in others.
In what national forest are you allowed to blaze your own trails. Or have unlimited "cross country access" I've never been there.

Yeah I realized after the fact that "trail damage" might be seen in a different light. It was really hard to find a decent domain name. Hopefully actions speak louder than words on our part... they probably come to the site thinking they'll find us damaging trails but end up disappointed when they find out it's only us damaging our vehicles while on a trail. I think it's a good thing that out of all of the trail reports and pictures on traildamage.com they couldn't find anything we were doing wrong. Adam messed up his axle, but he did it on a rock in the middle of a Forest Service numbered trail.
I suppose changing the name is an option, but then there will still be pictures of us with our tires in the dirt so that would be the next thing that would have to go. Eventually the whole site will have to go... or we can just leave it alone because we're not doing anything wrong.
The name stays...

maybe put a discaimer on the top of your page stating that anyone posting there must abide by the treadlightly mantra. if they are not on an approved trail, they cant post! just my .02

they actually use your site in a good way on there
here is what they said it suck that they make you seem bad by were the link is
Some enjoy the extreme challenges, and post their conquests on the Internet at sites like www.traildamage.com, which is loaded with riders? photos, digital movies and stories. The website gives awards for the most-damaged vehicles: "He got his front wheels lodged under the lip of a rock and when he tried to pop over it, his back wheels kept going while his front wheels stayed put. The result was a busted axle, but Adam put it back together enough to get back to town," one read.

I suppose changing the name is an option...(snip)...The name stays...Good choice. If you let it go I guarantee there would be an anti-recreationalist group on hand to pick up the name and publicize the worst of our hobby. You have an opportunity with traildamage.com to highlight not only the damage inflicted on our vehicles by the trails, but the GOOD aspects of the sport, including trail rebuilding, volunteer work (Toys for Tots, etc) and cleanups...make the most of it.
