Any thoughts on the 2011 Chevrolet 2500HD would be appreciated, more specifically the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD LTZ 4dr Crew Cab 4WD SB with the Duramax 6.6L Turbodiesel V8 Engine and Allison 6-Speed Automatic Transmission option.

Should be seeing them at dealerships late summer?

I've been reading everything I can get my hands on about this setup, maybe I should start cruising diesel forums.

The new LML 6.6 has urea injection for the selective catalyst reduction. Not sure of the urea prices or availability but I know the tank has to be filled every service. If you ignore it the truck will go into limp mode and limit you top speed to 5mph. So other than the 2011 emission requirements that they had to meet, it's still the same awesome motor that its always been. Ooh and a plus looks like standard 20's yo.

Urea is available at most truck stops and is becoming more common at the parts stores. It should cost between 7-10 a gallon. Over the road trucks are using it as well as some of the European diesels.

After you saw how good my set-up did I'm suprised you would go with the bow tie:flipoff2: I'll be selling the Lance Camper soon, and I imagine it would fit nicely. Just get the 3500. The new Ford 6.7 Seems good to go ...... so far anyway.

I kind of knocked up my girlfriend, so the lance is going to be a little small. I'm plan on getting a toy hauler for the dirtbikes, but long distance wheeling trips will probably be in hotels.

Why do you say that, given all of the changes all of them have done over the last few years to the motors, especially Dodge and Ford?

How much urea does something like this use at $7-$10/gallon?

Found this using the link provided earlier, lots of good information:

Napa has
1 Gallon jug for $5.99
2.5 gallon jug for $11.99 (4.79/gal)
55 Gallon drum for $225 (4.10/gal)
330 gallon Tote for $1299 (3.93/gal)

The above are list prices off their website.

PS. The tank on a Dmax will be 5.5 gallon.

From what I can find the tank needs to be filled on average every 5000 miles.

Some people may argue this is an added expense they can't afford. For those people I ask they just keep in mind how much it costs to eat out, go to the movies, purchase beer etc...I'll drive my Duramax to the Library on the weekends while eating a ham sandwich.:P

id stay away from the new fords until they are proven and all the kinks get worked out again. they may have gotten it right this time but id be scared to give them my money right away.

i also would rather get a year or 2 old dodge or d max with the dpf filter and egr and do the deletes before i dealt with a urea system

I just pdi'ed a new 2011 dmax. the truck is really quiet and you can hardly hear it idle. the def tank is 5 gallons. the rear brakes are huge. they changed the front diff on it also. the truck seams to ride even nicer than before. It flat out moves also, just by feal it has more power. I only put 10 or so miles on it but it seams to be the a nice truck
