View Full Version : Making progress

Been making a little progress on the car. New wheels/tires and new exhaust. I was getting a little concerned about how the alum wheels would look, but they turned out okay. The exhaust is getting re-done in an effort to quite it down a bit for the street. The mufflers have built in dumps that can be unbolted at the track. Not the greatest photo, but exhaust will pass through the x-pipe and 3" glasspacks then either be dumped or go to the side exit. What I really like about this configuration is being able to unbolt the exhaust and slide it out from under the car in one unit.

Couple more pics. Got the car out for a short drive after installing the new wheels and exhaust.

Noise at idle is about half as loud as before. Don't need earplugs in the garage anymore. ORR rules as I read them will allow me to unplug the exhaust since I have glasspacks before the dumps. :D

Tried the tires at 34F/30R psi but they seemed too soft, like they were rolling over on the sidewalls. Went to 44/40 psi and the car feels like a slot car. Laid into a couple of entry/exit ramps on the interstate and it just took them like it was on rails. 100% better than the old setup.
