On 4/17, we will have a Bugatti Veyron at Cars and Coffee. The following day, Sunday the 18th, there is an auction with the winner getting a ride in the Veyron. All the proceeds will go to the Childrens Hospital.

Details on the auction event will be available at Cars and Coffee on the 10th and the 17th.

On the 10th, Cruisin Dave will be there playing tunes and passing out goodies donated by the local merchants.

If you have ever wanted to see a Veyron up close, and personal, here is your chance.

Pretty mind-boggling car.

I appreciate the technology, but why do they have to be so ugly? Definitely my least favorite supercar, by a long shot.

I like his license plate frame. :)

I saw that too. I'm wondering if anyone has seen a solid recorded time from one of these running the Ring. I haven't so, I'm curious of how much faster this car is on the track than the ZR1.

I've seen these in person a few times at shows like SEMA but, I've never seen one on the road. They are different looking.

I saw one in Orange County in the parking lot of the Anaheim Angels stadium. Cool car in an ugly sort of way. It looks like a TT with a serious body kit on it.

Slower than a ZR-1:

I think the thing is just too piggy and too much of a top speed queen.

It was cool to see people's reaction to it. Some loved it, and some thought it ugly.

Personally, it is the one car I would love to own.

I was skeptical before I saw it. Then I became a believer. I kinda just stood there and gazed, then on the drive home, it was pretty much all I could think about.

It is so beyond extreme, that words don't do it justice. Jesus, the tires are a special Michelin spec that cost something like 25k per set. And you have to change rims every couple of tire mounts.

Having been pretty fast myself, I just can't even begin to imagine a car that can do that kind of speed and have any kind of normal road manners. It just doesn't happen. 200? Sure. 210? There's a few out there that can do it. 220? Maybe one or two in the world.

Fuggin' 253? No. Nuh-huh. Not even. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

220 and 253 are WORLDS apart.

Scotty, as you know, very few people have driven a car capable of 200 mph, let alone actually hit that type of speed. I can't even imagine 253mph.

I liked everything about the car except the Lic Plate frame.

It's just not necessary......no reason to demote the car with dumb words...

Maybe I'm just partial to Vettes, just a turnoff to me...............JMHO

You know, Redcj7........this got me thinking. I know this piece of highway outside Wendover, NV. It's called the Dolly Varden straight. You come down into the basin on one side, then it's straight across the basin, then it gradually goes up on the other side.

Probably about 12 miles total, with 8 or so being a straight across the basin. You can see end to end. Get a couple of guys out there with walkie talkies, and they could easily communicate end to end.

If a guy had a Ford GT or a Lambo, I'd bet he could get either car to reach its top speed.

It's really deserted out there.

Interesting scenario, isn't it?

Im still partial to the Enzo after seeing one of them up close, but the Veryon is still up there for me. It is a VW after all....:thumbsup: It does strike me as a top speed car though. Saw an R8 the other day and thats the car I would LOVE to take for a spin.....:drool:

Oh, the plate frame is an awesome touch, but a peeing Calvin would have been better....

Why not truck nutz?

I need to dig up my pictures from when it was shown as a prototype at the NAIAS in Detroit, January of 2000. I knew then that it was a car I really wanted (est. price at that time was $500k IIRC), and that still holds true.

Your sarcasm meter off today....

Then again, when you drive a million+ dollar car, I think you can put whatever you want on it....At least the guy has a sense of humor...

Just watched a special last night on the building of the V. Base price $1.5million.

0-62.1 = 2.5 seconds
0-99.4 = 5.5 seconds
0-248.5 = 50 seconds

The brake discs are completely made by hand by the same manufacturer of jet brakes. At speed the air brake(wing) provides more braking force than the discs.

The engine produces 1001 hp at the crank but actually produces over 3000hp w/ 2/3rds loss to heat.

Final assembly is of three main units. The front, middle and rear. Held together w/ 14 titanium bolts at a cost of $100 each.
