Found a Ford 1ton SRW w/ a DT466 7.6L w/ Turbo...

Does the engine have the same setup as a IH DT466?

Am I still looking at 8mpg in a tow rig loaded?

No, they have different hp ratings, 180,210,230 and I think they have a 250 now. The early ones had mechanical fuel injection and the new ones are electronic fuel injection. They will usually do about 300,000miles in a tow truck before they need to be inframe rebuilt.

Im going to guess that this one is electronic... Just trying to get an idea on the engine I Didn't know ford offered a DT466. Im going to go look at it soon. When I asked about it, I said 7.3L he said no 7.6L That threw me off . DT466E is the Electronic Fuel Injection?

He just left me a voicemail its a 7.3L typo :(... Still would like more info on a 466, since it seems everyone likes them.

They are big and heavy and in all reality too big to put in a pickup. Guy up had one in a 75 F250 4door briefly and he had to move the the firewall back a bit . IIRC they weigh 1500-1800lbs.

The DT466 is in the same class as the Cummins 8.3, and the Cat 3126. It's a medium duty truck engine, for sure.
