Landed a big ol' Rainbow Trout today at 11 mile resv. Biggest I've ever caught.....or even seen. 21.5 inches, approx 5 pounds. People kept asking me if I snagged it (thinking it was a Kokonee) until they got close enough to see it was a rainbow. :D

Big ass fish for sure, you probably won't tell, but if you will, what did you catch him on? I ice fish the helll out of antero, and 11mile. The first trout I have ever caught ice fishing was 30 1/2 inches long, and 6.5 lbs. I love ice fishing, and next year I will be getting a personal pontoon to fish from. I have spots gps on both lakes, that were handed down for three generations, long before gps was around

I caught this one while standing on a large boulder along the shore. Water was calm and clear so I could see him coming. I cast a mid-size spoon in front of him, jigged it a few times and bam, the fight was on.

I've got a canoe, but didn't bring it along this time. Thinking about getting a fish finder for it next year so I can hook into some of those monster Lakers. Landing one in the canoe might be a different story. This Rainbow was hard enough from shore.

Wow, I have caught some large trout at 11 mile from a canoe but nothing like that.

So where was this boulder??

Nice fish!

This is the time of year to catch the big ones in the shallows. It's spawning season for the 'bows. A friend of mine caught a 30 inch, 12 pound brown in Lemon Reservoir (Durango) back in the early 90s just killing time on the shore between final exams. He had two pound test on an ultralight rig and no net!

For sure! Blue River in Silverthorne just behind the mall......

you have to use extremely fine tippet and a small fly, but there are some HUGE lurkers this time of year and throughout the winter
