View Full Version : Halo and Roof Panel.....opinions?

I think I'm getting a new roof panel and halo for my car. Currently both are red, and I'm going to the dark tint clear roof panel with a black halo.

What do you guys think? I'll keep my originals, and both can be switched in under 30 minutes.

Here's my car now, with red roof and halo:

And another car, with black roof and halo. I think it looks good, maybe a little more agressive.

This guy runs the black halo and red roof, which I don't particularly care for.....

Yes?

No?

Bacon?

Black one's better.

Probably add a good 5-6 MPH to the top end too. :D

Would go with your wheels too. Since they are a dark blue hue. You probably won't go for this but a carbon hood and rear deck would give your car a cool techy two tone look to go along with the black roof line. And before everyone starts saying it's too boy racer remember that GM put a clear hood piece on a Vette stock! :flipoff2:

Thanks for the opinions.

The ZR1 has a carbon fiber roof and halo, so this is kinda along that look.

Oh, and the black roof weighs half of the red one. Good for .02 MPH in the corners.....

Black halo. Less 'busy' looking.

I thought you sold the Vette? And the TJ?

Still have them both, was just fishing with the for sale stuff.

I'm going to get the roof and halo. You guys confirmed my decision.

Scotty-

I have both roof panels and will say that the poly is about 1/4 (i think there is more than your stated weight difference by my super accurate holding them method) the weight and has perfect fitment. Not that it matters as much up here but in Houston in the summer I switch back to the solid b/c the sun bakes the seats in 100+ temps.

I like the black Halo but I dig black on all cars. it flows from the windshield panel to rear window better.

IMHO yours looks like a ticket magnet:flipoff2:

you should really step to the Katech CLubsport wheels:thumbsup:

:drool::drool: Nice wheels. on the price!

I'm not sure a supercharged Katech 427 would even keep up with your striped beast, redcj.

Have fun at TX Mile, though. Over/under on your run is 180. That is, if the driver has the sack to keep the pedal down for the full mile.........:D

As much as I hate to admit it, that could be an issue. I'm thinking it will only do around 175 in the mile as I'm pretty much stock. We get a lot of tries from what I understand so maybe will work up to it.

I do Texas World Speedway the day before the Texas Mile so my need for speed should be pretty well satisfied for a while. At least till BBORR.

As much as I hate to admit it, that could be an issue. .

Arms relaxed, easy grip on the wheel, shift with just a couple of fingers- no death grip on the shifter or wheel, look waaaaaaaay ahead, and don't turn the wheel no matter what. Foot on floor.

Avoid wheelspin when shifting. It's just a long drag race, bascially. Work up to speed if it's scary over several runs.

The last 1/4, where you're over 150, is gonna be awesome.

170-175 in that car is going to be no problem. Stay on it through the finish, let off, then easy brakes.

Oh, and don't crash, BTW.

Piece of cake. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

You will see at least one person who gets excited and rips their shifter out, almost guaranteed. Guy behind us at the Nebraska mile did that exact thing. Literally broke his shifter linkage yanking on the lever too hard.

The texas Mile is 10/16-10/18. The Ford GT Forum has reserved the track for an exclusive GT event on the 15th.

Went to St George this weekend. Got the goods, installed last night. Working with weatherstripping sucks donkey nads.

Photos coming. Gotta wash that filthy car off. Took scenic route thru Hanksville, Boulder UT, Capitol reef, Bryce on the way down. Mind blowing scenery.

More coming. Very happy with the looks of da new parts.

Easy.........

Finally got home before dark, and managed to rinse the car off just as the sun was setting- I missed the good light by 5 minutes, but these came out OK.

Didn't know your pops lives out yonder. Makes more sense now.

And yeah, I'm well versed on the (lack) of speed patrol out in that area. Certain board members have previously been awoken from a sleep to see the speedo buried past the 150 mark :D. Hopefully the weather held up for you on your drive, that can really suck the fun out of it.

Heh. Waking up in Vegas, wishing I didn't have to move, and waking up at 150+ mph in the same day!! Man, that makes me tired all over again.
