Silver State Challenge ran this past weekend. Thankfully, it was a safe event- no crashes this time out.

Only one UNL entry, and he DNF'd.

But.........................some very cool info:

In the 180 MPH class, Tom C won. Tom drives a 1937 Ford F1 Pickup truck.......with a NASCAR Bush Series motor in it. It looks like it's straight out of a ZZ Top video, and he averaged 174.1425 MPH over the 90 mile distance.:eek:

Totally kick ass.

In the 170 class, Charlie won in his Corvair. He ran 169.9859mph, or a time variance of .159 seconds. Again......:eek:

Totally kick ass.

In 160, Cheryl Dey drove their 928 (they drive to and from the events- no trailer queen). Cheryl had a trap speed of 209 MPH, and won the 160 class with a time variance of .182 seconds.

:hail::hail: Two thumbs up   to Cheryl for being the fast chick. :hail::hail:

In 150 class, if you were one second off, you were good for 12th place in class. Very competitive. But then again, Hwy 318 is pretty much a straight shot, and inside a second is easy there. .2 sec was good for 5th in 150 class.

No accidents, no NDOT snafus, no issues with the rumble strips on Hwy 318.

Next up, 2010 BBORR in April, followed by a rumored revival of the Bonneville 100 (as yet unconfirmed) in Wendover in June 2010.

FYI for those interested. Reminder- SORC entries due Oct 5th. PM me for details if you want to run SORC next year- their entry process is kinda screwy.

When do they start registration for BBORR? I'm ready to go again.

BBORR registration will come up in Feb or so. They used to run an October event on a similar road nearby. Wish it was still running............we'd be packing up and getting ready as we speak/type.

I can't wait either.

So Steve. The $64,000 question:

Are you going to be sitting in the right hand, or left hand seat in 2010?

Dunno yet. Would def be fun to drive the race, but playing nav at 150+ is kinda fun too. Guess I'll have to decide when registration time comes around.
