My sons and I like to fish and sometimes we just dont have time to make a trek the mountains. I have never really fished the local area lakes and reservoirs to know what is good and where to go.

Any suggestions on which places are good and not so good. I live close to Chatfield and have canoe'd in the outer rim areas but not fished it. Any good fishing spots there?

What else is in the area and which part of the res or lake have you had luck with? What kind of fish are you catching.?

Any suggestions would be great.

I see lots of people fishing Sloan's Lake (Sheridan and 20th) But couldnt tell you if they actually catch anything. I have seen some nice big trouts jumping out of the water though.

I have fished off the bank at Chatfield, in the Catfish Flats area (NE end of the lake). A few Cats, a few Walleye, and a lot of Bass. I had really good luck with a crawfish lure in that area for the Bass and the Walleye.

Good to know. Anyone fish Cherry Creek or Aurora Res?

I do not know what the lake is called near 470 and Sante Fe but I hear its pretty good. Not the new one towards Platte Canyon the little one closer to Sante Fe.

Are you talking about the one between Santa Fe and Broadway? That's all private, no fishing.

I used to see people fishing all the time in the lake by my old store by SW Plaza.

No, the one on the West side of Sante Fe.

I drive by the other one looking for an opening in the fence. No such luck.

I know the lake by SW Plaza. Might try that one too.
