Someone had posted the other day about how there were color, sharpness or compression differences between different photo servers...more specifically, photobucket and flickr. Well, to me it looks like there is zero difference... Just a few examples but have a look...

All the these photos were exported in lightroom at 800x600 max size...even after uploading them, you can redownload them and they are all within a KB or two of each other from one site to another which leads me to thing compression is the same between the two sites. I see no differences in color, contrast, clarity or sharpness in any of the photos. Photobucket does have the upper hand though as their layout is much easier to use IMO. Flickr is not as easily navigated.

The reds in your first posted set are much more muted in the Flickr posting than the Photobucket posting...as many many many users of Flickr have noted and complained about.

I see it in almost every image with bright colors I post to Flickr. It's a known issue on Flickr.

In looking, the image fuzziness was said to be addressed by Photobucket so maybe they did.

Flickr still mutes colors though...

Maybe your eyes are better than mine or something because im still not seeing it...at least, not to an extent to where it would make the pictures any less desirable. Ive looked at them on 5 different calibrated monitors from different angles and distances and even two that were not calibrated and dont see any differences.

Maybe im fooling myself the more i look at them and see a VERY VERY VERY slight difference but its just not enough to even worry about it..so much as to the point of being overcritical. I mean, if someone can show me some substantial differences between the two, even in different photos, ill believe it but i just dont see it...

I am not worried about either really. When I was using Photobucket, the image degradation was miserable. As I said, they said they looked in to it and did something to fix it.

Flickr on the other hand does nothing about the multitudes of users complaining about the washed out colors. There are several Flickr groups bitching about it.

The color issue is from my comp to the Flickr upload. Not compared from Photobucket to Flickr. Photobucket seems to hold the true colors much better than Flickr.

Neither bother me all that much as I don't use either of them to show clients proofs.

I thought I noticed a difference in the reds too. It's just your eyes playing tricks on you.

Open photoshop > place the two images ontop one another > toggle layer visibility on/off of the one on top.

There is no difference, not in the slightest.

I even thought I noticed differences in the other ones as well. The bird one, top corners seemed darker in the PB one than in the Flickr one. The dirt bike one, blurred colors in the top looked more vibrant in the PB one than in the Flickr one.
- Tested them as well. No difference at all between the two.

OK, again, the issue is not a color issue between Flickr and Photobucket. It's an issue from original to uploaded image on Flickr. It is a known issue.

I know that my images that are uploaded to Flickr a muted color wise from the originals on my computer.
