My mom has a 2005 Honda VT 750 Shadow and she tasked me with finding her some saddle bags...

from what I understand I will need a set of saddlebag supports which is all fine and dandy, but what about the saddle bags themselves? What is a good company, and what should I look for? she is a pretty easy going person, nothing too flashy...

hard bags would be cool, but leather or even nylon will make her happy, she is more of a function over form type so "how it looks" is not a priority. something that fits the bikes styling would be nice.

her bike looks almost exactly like this one, same color scheme, but completely stock.

Depends on how much you want to spend. I'm happy with the synthetic Willie and Max bags that you can get in various sizes for under $100. But some people insist on the real deal leather bags. Hard bags will cost big $$$ so unless she plans on touring I'd avoid them.

Good internet source for MC accessories is http://www.accwhse.com

Form over function, I would go for the synthetic, Leather and Colorado sun, dont go together well. Unless she wants to oil em frequently, I would stay away from it.

the willie and max revolution synthetic leather ones look good...

I usually buy all my gear from newenough.com, but i know of MAW... it's just their website is just about the worst out there!

I will jump in and reccomend AGAINST "Leatherlike" Hard bags. I have had 2 sets, and both sets have been nothing but problems. I have a Nylon Trunk bag, and while it is a great bag, it has faded terribly in the weather. What Clyde says about leather is the truth. I like my Synthetic trunk bag. It does well, and has held up well.

the bikes get stored in a shed so sunlight exposure is not a huge concern, but low maintenance is!

I plan on getting some tourmaster saddle bags..
