Hmmm. A-36 Bonanza with tip tanks. Sounds like the pilot did a nice job.

From the picture they show, the plane went down only about 100-200 yards from Airport Rd and the runway is directly across Airport Rd from the field they landed in. I always wondered what would happen if a plane descended too quickly. I drive Airport Rd at least 2 times everyday. Some of the planes are so close to the road when they fly over...

Well, the descent rate is easily countered by adding power. My GUESS is that he lost power, due to mechanical failure or running out of gas. Who knows. Its a nice plane and the insurance co is going to end up paying $$$ no matter what.
