What other companys are around denver besides WM, Allied, and EDS?

EDS screwed us by adding on to a yearly prepayment due to gas surcharges (whats the point of paying a year in advance then.

Allied won't take anything but thier own cans

WM I've had issues with their employees before.

am I SOL?

Look in the yellow pages and find a small, local company if one exists.

Huh?

Can you explain this more?

You pay a year in advance, and a fuel surcharge has been added?

What is the benefit of paying a year in advance, or why do you have to?

Exactly. we initialy went with the full year prepay for conveniance and also knowing that fuel was going up the next summer. yet they still nailed us for 17 bucks and shut our trash off two months early. We got the bills for the surcharge but we never opened them cause we thought it was just renewel options. Now with late fees it's 25 bucks! not that it's alot of money I'm just pointing out the fact of whats the point of paying a year if your going to surcharge me for fuel basterds.

I called WM asking thier policy on the subject, They were in agreance with me and they do not surcharge for year prepayments. So I use them now.

Wow. Fuel surcharges are very common right now among all industries. One as fuel intensive as trash removal would have to have a surcharge.

I personally think you're a bit unreasonable in your expectations. You saved the amount of money you agreed to when you did the year prepay, and the fuel surcharge is a completely separate issue.

The fact that you don't open your mail is in no way their fault, either.

You're going to have the same issues with WM- I'd get the no surcharge thing in writing if I were you- my guess is that they were just trying to close the sale on a new customer. They all operate under the same restraints of fuel costs. Good luck, tho.

If he would read his contract I'm sure there is a fuel surcharge clause.

I do agree though that there is no incentive to prepay for a year if there are clauses allowing for increases due to fuel prices and such.

to me though the year prepay is only benificial if you lock yourself into a rate, not with the option of a rate change.

WM does have it in writing and is being sent to the house for a locked rate

The rate didn't change- it's a fuel surcharge. In case you haven't noticed, diesel is close to 5 bucks a gallon. A year ago, it was quite a bit lower.

I'd read the WM policy very carefully- I'm sure they have a rate guarantee as well, but fuel is something completely out of their control, and I doubt they'd commit to anything with regards to that- that would be very bad policy on their part- extremely risky.

To me it's no different than the locked rate excel offers. Believe me I understand the fuel thing Thats why I've been trying to take advantage of yearly prepays

Now that's interesting- Excel offers you a locked rate? What's the info on that one?

I get notices from Excel that say our rate is adjusted penny-for-penny as mandated by law according to prevailing market natural gas rates.

I'd love to get in on a rate lock from Excel.

Hrmm. So when a farmer pre-sells his crop, and fuel goes up, he can demand a "surcharge"?
Coming up with a different name for a price increase doesn't make it not a price increase.

Gotcha. Sounded a little too good to be true.

Companies offering rate guarantees on things beyond their control often aren't in business very long.

Farmers can't guarantee shipping rates on their crops, either..........
