There was a great turnout by the 4wd and OHV community, but it could have been better, and there needs to be more turnout at the next one.
An interesting thing happened while there. Christine, the head ranger of the meeting, pulled me aside and asked if I was a user of the area. I said yes, and I guess my age is quite showing yet, because she noticed that i appeared to be one of the younger participants of the meeting. she seemed very interested to get a better idea of the comments and opinions of the younger people involved with off-road and OHV community.
So, your mission is this, should you choose to accept it....

It is really important that we get a showing of younger OHV, and wheelers out at the next meeting at the Longmont Public Library.
Your opinions are being respectfully asked of you, now is the time to voice them!

I sense there is going to be big changes in the lefthand area, and you have the chance to affect change for the better! Please folks, I implore you to get out and be heard. The open houses are broken down into groups, so you dont have to feel like you are speaking to a large group at all. Just come to show yourself as a warm body who cares, even if you dont say anything. C'mon ppl motivate!!

oh.

PUNCH AND PIE!!!!! :D

I was also there last night and thought the turnout was decent. As it turned out everyone in my breakout group was an OHV user. I'm curious as how the other groups were.

One thing that is obvious to everyone is that the area is underfunded considering the high usage. Writing your congressmen is the way to help change.

I too was pulled aside by Christine as "young looking"... ha... and she stressed how important it was to get more young OHV users involved in the process.

This was my first time at something like this. Iit was definately worth an evening considering how much time I enjoy in the forests and I plan on keeping involved.

I was also there that night, and was pleased with the turn out, and have a good fealing about the future plans for left hand. I was fortunate enought to be in the group with the majority of home owners in the area, and found that they don't feel that we are the problem. But, rather that the forest service placing FS rd. #'s on their own private drives. Also, the noise created by the quads and dirtbikes in the area. I was a little disapointed to find that there was only one member of a dirtbike club that attended the meeting.

I was a little supprised that Christine didn't pull me off to the side also. Maybe it's because I still look like I am 13 :) and she probably didn't think that I could even drive. She did look at me really wierd a few time though.

Also, Just to let you guys that didn't show up for the meeting know. Even though you aren't really allowed to voice your opinion at these meetings, you need to show up and have your name on the guest list so that you can voice your opinion through a letter. They clearly stated to the people that showed up, " make sure that your names are signed in, or else any letters that you send in will not be taken into concideration for the future of this area."
