found one earlier this week. applied K9 advantix immediately after killing that little bugger. 2 days later another popped up.
We can't actually find any on the dog, just on bedding (like a ped bed or our bed) after she is done laying there. We have steam cleaned everything, washed everything in hot water, gave her an additional bath using flea killer shampoo, and vacuum twice a day.
how the hell do you get rid of these little suckers? this sucks. We are clean people (the wife is almost OCD about cleanliness), so this is driving us NUTS because we feel so dirty!

gotta bomb the house, or in a couple of weeks you will have many many more fleas.
I lived in the south most of my life, and if you own pets, its just a fact of life down there..

Or get the crabs and your wife will think the fleas are no big deal!

If you only have one dog, I don't think you'll need to bomb the whole house. If you use good flea shampoo, a collar, that back of the next stuff, and whatever else you can find it should work. They won't multiple with no food source. And if your dog is a flea poison zone. There's no food for them.

Actually I was told by several vets that fleas cannot survive in Colorado. No idea why not, but several have told me that. I've never seen fleas in real life, so I was inclined to believe them.
I've heard that putting a flea collar in your vacuum bag will kill any that you vacuum up.

they may say that, but they also say to stay away from prarie dog colonies because of plague, which is spread by fleas?? so? I think that maybe they can survive here in some form or another.

Been there, done it when I lived in CA. Pesky bastards. They will eat you alive.
Had to have the exterminator bomb the apartment.

Yeah, they may get on you and bite. It's kind of annoying. It's not like they can thrive or flourish on humans. We're far too barren and clean for fleas. My mom worked in a vet for 14 years. So I know just about everything there is to know about em. And been through plenty of encounters with them.
Honestly, if it's just one dog. I'd clean the main sleeping area of the dog. As well as any other frequented areas. Do this as often as possible, daily would be ideal. Vacuum every single day, and change the bag / throw it out daily. Along with the cleaning, Use some sort of poison if you feel comfortable using one. Maybe some of the flea killing carpet cleaner before vacuuming? For the dog, get a flea collar, put some of the neck stuff (frontline is very good), and give em a flea bath prior to it all.
The frontline will do the trick over the following two weeks (roughly how long they can survive and eggs take to hatch) to kill any fleas that are born or survive the cleaning. The cleaning and vacuuming will remove any of the wandering fleas that are currently running a muck.

X2 on Frontline. My dog gets it every month and never has had a problem with fleas, tics.

wash the dog, get flea collar for the dog, and bug bomb the house. That should do the trick

sweet. short of the bug bomb and burning the place down, we have done all of the above. I hate these little buggers.
