Went up and ran MSV/Coney Flats yesterday with a couple of other guys.

We had a great day- the trail is in good shape, some fun water crossings, and just beautiful scenery.

The only downer part of the day was a large group (7+ rigs, all well built), that seemed to feel no need to exercise basic trail courtesy. I was in 4:1 low, 2nd gear with my 4.88's, barely idling- so what I'm saying is that I was going EXTREMELY slow, and this group felt no inclination to move over when one of them parked right in the middle of the trail for a bathroom break, then up the trail at .000001 MPH, then not pulling over when one of their rigs OVERHEATED- maybe if they were moving a little faster than the speed of glacial movement it wouldn't overheat, dude...........

They just stopped the whole line of Jeeps, backing up the trail for a ridiculously long time, with no regard for others. There are plenty of pull-outs on MSV.   When they overheated, I went up to the front of their line, and said "put a strap on that thing, we're 1/4 mile from the lake. Holy Christ, people- use a little common sense.

They were a local group, apparently affiliated with a local accessory shop- which I won't name, out of self-restraint, and the hope that they might get a clue about the fact that they don't own the trail. Can you tell I'm a bit pizzed?

Courtesy, people, courtesy.

Oh well, rant off, here are some pics:

Definitely- the season is here. We're going to go out weekend after the 4th, so I'll hit you up with a PM on where and when.

Wish we could have made it. We headed up to Wyoming yesterday and played on the Fire Roads west of Red Feather Lakes. Hope you didn't get as wet as last time on the way back :flipoff2: still feel bad, but that was funny :)

We were just up there this weekend too. Didn't see you guys up there, we ran it Sat really early, from the sounds of it, glad we missed the other group. First time on the trail, real fun. Love when we came off MSV and hit Coney flats, that little climb right there wasn't all that hard, but real fun for my buddy's lightly lifted ZJ.

Will definatly hit that trail again. the 'Lake' wasn't all that deep, but the deepest i've hit in the jeep so far. Lots of water crossings up there at the moment.

If i get pictures before this thread goes dead I'll post some up too.

dmart, are you the one who's spare tire hanger keeps opening? If so yeah, we saw you, we were in the Red CJ (Me, who offered the zip ties to at least get you to town instead of more interesting reasons to stop on 36) and the Black ZJ (buddy who went too fast through the crossing the second time around and had white smoke coming out the tail pipe for awhile).

Damn, Scotty! I wish I'd noticed you were running my favorite trail this weekend. I would have stayed around home and tagged along.

Very cool. If the white ford exploder can make it through the H2O...then that is doable for me.

Well, for what that's worth - part of my love for that trail probably stems from it being my first semi-significant trail, back when we were bone stock.

Of course - I beat up my oil pan and shaved a long curl of aluminum off my transmission - first catalyst for the upgrades to follow.
