White Trash=The New Chic

So I'll be the first to admit that I'm fascinated by everything that is White Trash. I even have an old Chevy truck that is parked in the yard at my old house that is a constant on going project. Cut-off tshirts? Yep-I have a few. I love a set of daisy dukes as much as the next guy. Tube tops always turn my head. My friend and his wife are throwing a White Trash party pretty soon. TONIC says that I'm onto someting here and that White Trash is actually getting popular. Has anyone else noticed how many TV shows celebrate the so-called White Trash lifestyle? I can think of a few here right off. PINKS. Ice Road Truckers. Dog-The Bounty Hunter (cancelled cuz he's a racist) And now there are even more shows coming out like Life in the Crash Lane and another one about motorcycle gangs or gang. Not sure which. So with it's sudden boom in popularity is White Trash really a derogitory term anymore? What say you?:D

Absolutely! Ice Road Truckers, Dangerous catch (AK crab boats) and there's some show on loggers in the northwest, forget the name. They all have one thing in common. A bunch of rednecks, whining about their lives and jobs. WTF? Its like "The View" for men.

I think you ARE onto something. At the risk of sounding overly analytical, maybe people are getting tired of fake friends, fake hobbies to impress others, "keeping up with the Joneses", etc.

I for one simply cannot handle all that. I wasn't raised white trash by any stretch, but was raised with a slightly redneck point of view. Since then I've moved up a bit in the world, but do everything I can to retain my redneck streak.

What can I say, I like Copenhagen every now and then. :)

Being a very proud redneck, I draw the same distinction as dna does. Redneck is a term of pride for me, but white trash has a negative conotation to it. THe first thing required to be WT is to be on welfare. Then we have the next rung down on the ladder, Poor white trailer trash. Now I grew up in a trailer, but we were not PWTT. We were just poor white rednecks that lived in a trailer.

I recently was kicked out of an hoa for having seven vehicles and a trailer. As well as working on them in the driveway. I dont want to see mullets come back but all the best people I know (I mean the truly good folks that would do anything for a stranger) could be considered white trash. So I say its cool but I have been a fan of the WT lifestyle since I was a teenager. My favorite things to do are buy hundered dollar beaters and flog them to death in the hills. Or have parties where you burn old tires while drinking cheap natural light of course in the hills. Or get drunk and string someone up with the pole truck and drive around swinging them in the air. Or drag an old water heater down old dirt roads going 50 miles and hour. Oh the good times! :thumbsup:

Absolutely! Ice Road Truckers, Dangerous catch (AK crab boats) and there's some show on loggers in the northwest, forget the name. They all have one thing in common. A bunch of rednecks, whining about their lives and jobs. WTF? Its like "The View" for men.

:flipoff2: i do almost the same damn thing for jefferson county. running a chainsaw and logging equipment all day is a source of pride for me. and yes, it makes me a redneck... :P the show is called AxMen btw


hmmm.... I guess my deffintion of white trash is different than everyone elses. I've never considered rednecks as white trash. I consider white trash the low life's that ain't got a job, commit crime, live in a trailor park, refuse to get a job and live off welfare and rock the mullet 24-7. Oh and have 8+ kids all named Cleadus.

Redneck is a completely different term in my book and is actually probably a little closer to what you all are looking at.
