What do you consider a lot of driving? Rampart Reservoir is one of the most popular trails in the area, and it's not too far. Directions here: http://www.hence-forth.com/Colorado_Hiking/Hikes/Rampart_Reservoir/Rampart_Reservoir.htm
Red Rock Canyon Open Space is pretty close too http://www.redrockcanyonopenspace.org/
Waldo Canyon, while only a 7 mile total loop, would probably be quite a challenge on a bike: http://www.trailcentral.com/trail/trail_info.php?trail=35
I'll try to think of some others as well.

Palmer Park and Ute Valley. Just ride through the parks and you'll find something as mild or wild as you'd like. Here's the maps...

Palmer Park ..
SWEET!! i'm living right next to Colorado College so that's an easy ride from town. Ute Valley is pretty close to my current hotel room on I-25/Woodmen, where i'll be until the end of next week so i'll go check that out one night after work
