Finally got the new canoe on the water yesterday. First time in twenty years that I've paddled anything. Went up to South Catamount reservior on Pikes Peak.

Within twenty minutes of lauching we were hit with 50 mph winds, two foot waves, and we snapped a paddle. Things got a little intense, but the boat handled everything just fine. Later in the afternoon, the winds died down, the sun came out, we caught three trout, and paddled back across the lake in fairly smooth waters.

Learned some important lessons on this trip, but I'm definitely hooked and can't wait to head back out for more (but not in high winds).

It was very windy last weekend at 11 Mile as well. We had a good time when the wind died down and the fishing was good too.

Glad you got it in the water. Wind and canoes do not mix but with a wide bottom model you can at least stay upright.

Simmilar story here. Took the new wide flat bottom canoe to Dowdy lake in Red Feather. Handled very well, except for the wind. My 8yo daughter just couldnt help enough with the paddling. Once I was headed into the wind, we did well. But if I missed a stroke and got off center, around we would go.

Verry fun, and some sore shoulders and back muscles.
