Hey guys how's it going, Liz and I still cant find a reliable Car seat that will fit properly on our TJ.
Any suggestions of what you have and how it has worked for you, also how easy is it to install and uninstall.
Thanks

I've never found one that fits badly. I've got the airbag disabled and put the baby in the front, with the carrier handle under the Jesus bar, then with the seat slightly reclined, slide the seat forward to trap the carrier, belt the carrier down, then push the seatback upright to lock it in even better.

I was under the impression that putting a car seat up front was not allowed. Anyhow the wife rides upfront. I dont see any latches on the back seat to secure it, only the seat belt. I was just wondering if there is a brand that builds something for Jeep that would work better then all other one's out there.

I'd ask BigBlackRubicon what brand car seat he has for his son. I've seen it in action and it did an excellant job.

the seat belts in the back have a built in tether near the buckle. It helps keep the belt VERY secure. There's not one seat that I found that works better then another. Most infant carriers have a base that I would just keep in the back seat and just snap the seat into. Definitely take some practice to maneuver the baby in the seat through the door and seat to the back.
Good luck!

Just an FYI. . . There was a thread started a week or so back on the Rubiconowners forum about the rear seatbelts. He posted that he went to remove the seatbelts (he was bulding in a cargo box), and found that the bolts where not tight at all. I think he said that one was even close to finger loose!! So you may just want to make sure they are good and tight before you strap a car seat to one!! :)

You're looking for a baby seat, not a child seat correct?
Don't they all just attach via the seatbelts? Obviously I don't have little ones....

We wound up trading in the wifes TJ for a LR discovery. (Perhaps a bad move in hind sight...) Before we did that we test fit the graco kid bucket and seat base into the jeep.
First: Read your owners manual and the manual for the kid seat. Lives are at risk.
The secret to the seat belts is to pull them all the way out so the ratchet mechanism engages. That's what holds things in place. If you're looking for a better fit, it's possible to use rolled up towels or cut up swim noodles to help wedge things in place. Compress everything using your body weight and pressure against the roof or cage, tighten the belt, then release the pressure.
I've found that the baby buckets only fit well in mini-van seats.

Do you know of anyone selling these around Denver? I wonder for what ages are these seats.
Like CSP said its a baby seat that I need. Baby is 9 days old and the seat we have right now doesnt really fit in the back seat.
Once I pick one out, Im planning on going to the firehouse close to home and having them show me the right way on how to install it.
Thanks for all the good info guys.

This is a little ahead, but I would highly reccomend Britax car seats over the others. Very well built, sturdy and always have the best ratings.
Once your little one gets into an upright foward facing seat, you can drop in another mount/tie-down in the back if your Jeep doesn't have one. All of those seats have an upper/top tie tether to keep the top of the carseat down.
We have the Britax husky, (or regent I think it's called now) It's for 1 year olds and 22lbs-80lbs. Our oldest daughter was too tall for most 5 points so wew found this one that worked great. Now our other daughter uses it.

I think we payed around $220ish for ours...I don't remember from where tho?

I don't know if you can get them locally but I'm pretty sure your little one will have to wait a few years. Some of those rear facing ones have a leavaling system to adjust them to different seats.
