What does everybody think of Tamron lenses? I'm looking for a wider angle lens for my Canon Rebel XT, and found this Tamron 17-35mm:

I like that it opens to f/2.8 at 17mm so this one seems like a good value, but I don't know much about Tamron.

I am getting the Sigma 17-70. 2.8-4.5

It takes some great images and is a good walk around lens as well. The wide end 2.8 is great either way.

I have two Tamron lenses: 28-80 and 75-300. Both seem very good to me.

Id rate them under Canon or Nikon brand as well as Sigma lenses but some of them still are not bad lenses.

Good bang for the buck. They are a little less sharp then some others at the margins of their capacities. These were shot w/ a 20D and a Tamron 28-300 mm. The one I have is pretty lightweight and has good macro as well as telephoto capability. I like it. :thumbsup:

I have two Tamron lenses: 28-80 and 75-300. Both seem very good to me.

I have the 28-300, and it is my primary lens. I really like it.

Thanks for the replies. I may hold out for that Sigma, Tiffany. That looks like a nice lens.

I just picked one up (17-70) for $275 shipped. Should be here on Thursday.

Those photos I posted of the Erie Town Fair were all taken with the Tamron 75-300mm lens.

POTN is a Canon only site with a VERY ACTIVE marketplace. Have picked up some amazing deals there, also sold my XTi and XT there in under 3 hours.

Dgrin has an active marketplace for all makes of cameras.
